Vice is a Canadian channel, I believe it was owned by Rogers. You get some eclectic programming there. The show is hosted by skateboarder Rick McCrank and he combines boarding with abandoned malls, factories, etc. The premise sounds odd but it really works due to the curmudgeonly characters that inhabit these places. A total subculture show.

Here's the show's website and feed:
https://www.viceland.com/en_us/show/abandoned
The shows are up and you can access them if you have a participating cable or satellite provider.
All you have to do is sign and they'll play.
I liked the Route 66 episode a lot:

I like the Dead Files better than Ghost Adventures too. Real stories about people currently being afflicted by the paranormal. I like to see how Steve's facts line up with Amy's intuition. I'm waiting for something to happen to Steve in the middle of an interview. ;D

You are most welcome. The program has a dreamy, meditative vibe that just takes me right into a peaceful place.
It's fascinating how you can remove humans from some edifice or place and still not lose the inherent vibe of it, if anything it seems to concentrate.

Mission Impossible, Outer Limits, great picks. For me, TV really started going down the tubes by the nineties, about the same time music hit the skids. I'd much rather watch a classic film noir from the fourties than most of the junk churned out today. Better writing, better actors, just better all around.

Channel Zero
An anthology series based on popular Internet Creepypastas. Great fun and filmed where I live. I love it when you can recognize the filming locations. Much of season 3 was filmed in the Manitoba Legislative Building. A sacrifice takes place in The Pool of the Black Star https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manitoba_Legislative_Building#/media/File:PoolBlackStar.jpg (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manitoba_Legislative_Building#/media/File:PoolBlackStar.jpg)
Good ratings on IMDB & Rotten Tomatoes

Do you have Android & Chromecast? Check out Terrarium TV. It's where I get my media fix. Movies & TV. Yes you can get movies from lots of other places on the internet and yes there are ads. The ads are unobtrusive and just in the menus, not during play. I would take the ads over commercials any day. It is basically a site scraper and if you watch movies online you will probably recognize many of the sites it scrapes. I love the favorites and notification options. Many playback qualities to choose from. I prefer it over Kodi - nothing to configure! Best place to download Terrarium is from the official Reddit at https://www.reddit.com/r/TerrariumTV/ (https://www.reddit.com/r/TerrariumTV/). It's not available at the Google store so you will have to enable install from unknown source.
If you use another app or web site that is comparable to Terrarium please share! (especially if you know of a Linux app)

I also enjoy "Columbo." It's interesting, as well as disappointing, though, to view the differences between the original "Columbo" episodes and the "comeback" episodes. The original, late 60's through the 70's episodes were top notch, with excellent writing, excellent quality actors, and nice production values. There was a big drop-off in quality, across the board, with the late 80's and beyond episodes, though. I'll still watch them but the latter shows placed some B-version or worse actors as the villain, annoying third rate background actors, and lower production quality. It wasn't always the case, since some of the later shows had some quality villains, such a Patrick McGoohan but, in general, some the villains looked like they were recycles from "Love American Style" or similar such crapola. I mean, come on, Helen Shaver versus Janet Leigh? I guess it was the networks choice to sacrifice quality, knowing they'd still get a number of viewers just to see Peter Falk as Columbo, once again. A sign of things to come. Thanks, Hollywood. Keep that crap coming. ::) :P

Not much into most of the Marvel TV series shows, but Legion is amazing. Some pretty insane stuff going on here and you're never quite sure what's going to happen next. There are a few WTF, let's all break out into a dance routine moments. It has some amazing sets and visual effects, very wacky scenes and cinematography. I love the opening monologues and bizarre soundtrack. David has got to be my favourite schizophrenic superhero.

Filed under the heading "Prematurely cancelled sci-fi shows" ...
Firefly - infamously cancelled after only 1 season
Earth 2 - an interesting show also dropped after 1 season
Defying Gravity - A mostly-reviled show nicknamed "Dawson's Creek in Space" but I thought it had potential, 1 season only
Stargate Universe - I hate all stargate variants except this one, and it got dropped after only 2 seasons
Farscape - one of my all-time faves, made it 4 seasons, but still cancelled too early

That reminded me. "Shark Week" starts today on Discovery Channel. Some shows are bad, many are repeats, but some are interesting and awesome. But the general idea and sometimes ridiculous hypes and hosting of "Shark Week" is cool.

That's one great period piece series. I enjoyed it at the time. Something different, with the Michael Mann vibe, a cool Miami-setting, sweet rides, nice background music, 80's style, Castillo.

It was a fun show to watch. A teenager at the time, I appreciated any scenes with bikini clad females. As a leather jacket, Iron Maiden T-Shirt wearing metal head, I always made fun of the guys going for the "Crockett" look.

Stargate Universe - I hate all stargate variants except this one, and it got dropped after only 2 seasons
Farscape - one of my all-time faves, made it 4 seasons, but still cancelled too early
Nice list zeebo.
Not familiar with Defying Gravity. I did love Farscape and also enjoyed Earth 2 and Firefly. What are your thoughts on Lexx? Not a favorite but I did enjoy that as well.

You have been defying me ever since that first magical night we met in the OSOM thread you little imp you. Barfly had you shackled up in the shed next to the chicken coop. You were longing for a new yellow sundress. I tried to whisk you away but you refused to cross the Mississippi.

DG was almost universally hated except by me, so I would not seek it out lol. Farscape I loved because it was just so unconventional and wacky - sort of like the anti-Trek. I haven't seen Lexx but will check it out.

Anybody else a Curb Your Enthusiasm nut? I have the DVD box set as well as the entire series in digital format on all my machines.

I loved the book and the production of the show was great, but Dakota Fanning was a let down for me. She seemed so miscast. The actor who played the doctor was really good though.

Yeah, that was really good! I didn't read the book, so can't compare, but it definitely kept my attention. The ending felt a little strange. I won't spoil, but now I want to read the book to see if it ends the same.

Not the best Sci-Fi I've ever seen, but it is worth a watch. Not as good as a big budget Hollywood theatre movie release, but very good for a Netflix movie. I'd give it more like a solid 7/10 for what it is and because I'm a sucker for Sci-Fi.

Just started watching Castle Rock (via the Terrarium TV app). I've only watched 2 episodes, but it is good so far. It's usually pretty hard to go wrong with a Stephen King story. I just wish I could stop singing the Fraggle Rock theme song when it starts. Let the music play, down at Castle Rock.

The actors are phenomenal on that show, that's for sure.

I'm not into TV that much, but this got me thinking earlier and I just remembered what probably my all time favorites are.
They're probably all British shows that were on PBS, but I could watch them repeatedly without getting tired of them.
Are You Being Served
Chef!
The Vicar of Dibley
Red Dwarf (of course where I got my avatar and name)
Keeping Up Appearances
Dad's Army
The Brittas Empire
and a kudos to Canada, probably my favorite show of all time - The Red Green Show "Duct Tape. The handyman's secret weapon."
I know I'm missing a few.
-
Cool directors cut of what it takes to make the Match Game intro.
-
This thread put a bug in my brain yesterday so now my minds been going through TV shows, kinda like a song being stuck in your head.
There are a lot of shows I grew up with. I liked them but didn't think much else of them. Now looking back I see how creative they were and how well they were written. They weren't the same cut and pastes as it seems like today's sitcoms are.
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Hogan's Heroes
The Beverly Hillbillies
The Adams Family
The Munsters
There are others too, but these are my favorites.
-
And now for my most favorite, top of the list, all time greatest TV show that ever was!

With Curly or Shemp only. None of the Joes. Sorry guys.
If they had a Three Stooges channel, I'd leave it there and break off the knob. Damn, can't find a knob. Well, take the batteries out of the remote then.

Scrubs
Wings
Mash
Everybody Loves Raymond
The Middle
Monk
Wings and Monk is some of my favorites. Both super underrated. In the 80s even though NBC comedy was a juggernaut with Cosby and Cheers my favorite was always Night Court. I still watch back and get great laughs out of it.

Ha, same here. I rarely watched Cheers or Cosby, even though they were good shows. Night Court was hilarious. Still is.
My wife laughs at me, I'm not that much a TV watcher, but she is. Tells me we have over 300 channels and I record old Wings and Scrubs episodes that I've seen way too many times. I've always watched Monk too, actually, Hallmark just took him off the air this week. Surprised me when I went looking for it to have on when I was eating lunch in the afternoon.

Nice memories. I remember MASH and WKRP before bedtime. Those are the shows no matter what we were doing we'd catch.
WKRP has one of the funniest episodes I've ever seen of any sitcom. Me and the wife still look for it to record before Thanksgiving so we can watch it.
"As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly".

I watched "The First" a few days ago. 8 episodes in Season 1.
I am so hoping there will be a Season 2. But you know what? If there is not a Season 2 I am still very satisfied.
I guess it is worth mentioning Sean Penn is in it. He was jacked up. Steroids for sure.
I give it a 8.5 out of 10.

I think it has an air date of January in the US.
If you are into Vampires (Wampyr/Vampyr/Vampeir) and Witches (and Demons!) it’s pretty good and very watchable. Based on the Deborah Harkness series of books. Quite good fun to play what show was that actor in before game as well.

It had a good following for it's limited run. It was great to see they finally released the series on DVD last year.

Just finished season two of Ozark. It is an amazing series so far. I have watched up to season 3 of Better Call Saul and am now re-watching Breaking Bad again. Great writing and acting in all the above.
-
Just about finished the first batch of episodes of the Haunting of Hill House. Not the sort of house I'd imagine a flipper would take on. ::) I mean really!!!! It is supposed to be a veritable castle and a middle income working family is going to fix it up? I don't think so. That premise is a bit ridiculous but other than that not bad.
-
Ugghhhhh! The ending of (hopefully the only season) The Haunting of Hill House was incredibly warm and uplifting.....NOT the feeling you get after reading the original novel or after seeing the classic Robert Wise movie. I know this wasn't supposed to be a true adaptation of the novel but it doesn't even stick to the spirit of the original novel which was dark. And King himself praised this thing? He's gone soft and fuzzy in the head in his dotage. The acting was good and there were chilling moments but I'm not a fan. It was professionally made but WRONG, WRONG, WRONG and DUMB, DUMB, DUMB and I'm not a fan of pessimistic endings in movies or tv. I'm giving this a 1.5 star rating only because it was technically competent but it clearly missed the point of the original novel. >:( >:( >:(
I need to wash my head of this tripe by watching the Wise film again. Don't waste your time on this crap. Watch the inept Neesom monstrosity from the 90's but don't watch this. Jackson has officially turned over in her grave.
1.5 stars >:( >:( >:(

An old favorite originally made in the 1960's, Coronet Blue
Watching it when it aired, I recognized an exterior sequence using my prep school, Horace Mann. They shot a lot of TV on that campus.
The creator eventually released a denouement in text. I don't think it can be called a spoiler now, when it's not going to be produced for TV, any more than my exposure of the solution of Lost is. Turns out he was a Soviet agent. What would've been really cool is if he'd been faking amnesia, but that's not what they'd written.
