even though the body of the message is not empty.

Works fine for me.

PC with Windows 7

It just started working again.  The posts I was trying to quote that were returning this error were a couple days old.  The one I just quoted and replied to without a problem was from today.  I don't know if that's the issue, but will try some others and let you know if it continues or reoccurs.  Thanks.

Just tried a quote and reply on this post: http://ellgab.com/index.php?topic=8.msg42198#msg42198 and had a reoccurence of the issue.  I get the error message on both preview and submit mode.

Did you actually quote it or did you do a copy and paste?

Seems like I remember some kind of issue when doing a copy and paste without actually pressing on a key with a displayable character.
Are we having fun yet?

I actually quoted the post and added a comment as per usual. No c & p.

Bart, I've isolated the cause of the problem.  The issue only occurs on that one post I linked above.  The only thing different about that post is the ghost-looking emoticon at the end of it.  On a hunch, I deleted that emoticon when I quoted the post and re-tried it in preview mode.  It works fine that way.  Apparently that's an emoticon IE 11 doesn't like, so it screws up the quote feature.

There are no extraneous parts in a website.   Break out that Chilton Manual
