Here's a fairly recent, but good introductory article. Don't forget to check out the additional links on this page.
https://gizmodo.com/google-unveils-largest-quantum-computer-yet-but-so-wha-1823546420

And here's the difference between Google and D-Wave.
https://quantumcomputing.stackexchange.com/questions/1428/is-googles-72-qubit-device-better-than-d-waves-machines-which-feature-more-th

BTW - D-Wave can access alternative dimensions.

(Yeah, I know, It's the daily mail - but it offers one of the best explanations I've found...)

This is an impressive article that really explains it for the lay person.   ;)

Oh yeah, and this (from 2014)

Strangely enough, I actually understand this article. :o

No Quantum computing?

Case Against Quantum Computers:

https://spectrum.ieee.org/computing/hardware/the-case-against-quantum-computing

I want Norry to interview this guy and ask him if "quantum-stuff" can still apply to portals, unicorns, Bigfeet, and demons and how it relates to the "big bang," which "I still can't understand...."

Hunh.  That article reminds me of this:
" Everything that can be Invented has been Invented  " -  Charles H. Duell, Commissioner of US patent office in 1899.

Don't listen to the naysayers and pessimists. All they do is drag people down with them.   ;)

The main problem w/ quantum computing, is de-coherence. (Errors caused by noise / interference.)
It looks like (one possible) solution has been found,
(and blows the IEEE article straight out of the water.)
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/02/190204172209.htm

As far as the big bang is concerned, I don't buy it. They've never been able to prove it - in fact, there is no possible way to prove it with the methods available to us at our present level of understanding of physics. (The singularity.)
