Contrary to the doom and gloom, the strongest winds from the hurricane anywhere on the islands is now 21 mph, as the hurricane weakens while being basically stalled. Terms like "barreling towards Hawaii" were always false and only done to grab headline views, the reality is that this hurricane stalled out to the southwest of the big island days ago, kept a lot of strength for a long time, and is now dying. As I predicted more than a day ago, this hurricane is simply not going to be a big deal for Hawaii. They will get big waves, as I said, and heavy rains, as I said, and that is all. This was indeed a powerful hurricane but if it goes nowhere and stays at sea, it is just a dog barking in a cage. At this point I am calling it - the show is over.
I'm interested in what the effects of a lot of rain pouring into those fresh lava tubes will be--but no one seems to be openly addressing that, likely for obvious reasons.
From what I understand, it's the effect of the volcanic heat on the hurricane, that could potentially increase its category power.
do not worry. it will all blow over soon enough.
