Title: Astronomy

Hi, ellgab.

I'm an amateur astronomer and telescope-builder — wonder if any of you are, too?

We do not respond to posters that insist on using serif fonts.

Otherwise, welcome and post often. (Sans-serif)

What kind of scopes do you build? Dobsonian?

A strange prejudice.  The original term for "sans serif" was grotesk — because the vital appendages of the letter forms have been brutally hacked off.

The cult of Mid-Century and its supreme pontifex, Dieter Rams, has truly, finally, won.

. . . I guess I can live with it.   8)

What kind of scopes do you build? Dobsonian?

I have something that resembles a Dobsonian on the boards right now — it's a miniaturized version of the 60" at Mt. Wilson, borrowing some of the innovations invented for the 200" at Palomar.

Basically: a "Dobsonian" (Serrurier-truss Newtonian) on a stubby equatorial wedge.  It's about 3% done.

My workhorse is a rehabilitated Super Polaris C8.
