Read the agents description from 2012. After reading it think about what happened that led to that house being sold... Former international baseball player Hideki Irabu committed suicide in that house.

I did not know that Irabu had died, let alone by his own hand. Odd guy for sure.

Almost a 2 million dollar house and the description for it seems to be written in pidgin.

"Me fella house here. You fella buy em"

Almost a thousand dollars a month in taxes? Sheesh!

I didn't see much proof he was alive when he was an Expo.

The "widow's" agent was Japanese.  She's still an agent AND made a public inquiry online for an apartment a few years ago.  Strange. She sells many $1M+ homes, she's making coin.
Eh, nevermind...

A generous scholarship in Texas makes an in-state tuition less than car insurance payments. Big expense would be housing. Not as highly-ranked school, urban DFW area a little too close, but... Saving a school-estimated $57,000 in housing costs for the 3 years...

My biggest qualms are about trees so close to the foundation and driveway.  On the market 5 months, horrible decorating... Red flags or greed? Might be worth a low-ball offer if the foundation and plumbing isn't compromised if that school is selected.

Hahaha! I wonder if they were running a house of ill repute there or if somebody might have had a car detailing business.

Dunno. Perhaps you can ask when Zillow calls you [and everything else]?

The last time "Zillow" called me, the heavy breathing was from extreme obesity and COPD.

Doh!

Back in the real estate bust of 2008 or so, I looked for a bargain in housing in Jacksonville.  It seems that every house built for $5000 in the 50s now had granite countertops, modern kitchens, and fancy floors. Is this built on a slab?
Merry Christmas

Slab with trees everywhere.  Copper pipe through the slab (hopefully sheathed).

My dream home would be a ranch with a finished basement, uphill from the losers and good drainage. Easier to repair plumbing, cooler in summer.

Most of Texas is sans basements ☹️

I still have hopes for another school for future professional reasons.

Billings has an appeal to me... A cousin lives there. I have researched modular/prefab/mobile home on top of a walkout basement/garage new build. If I don't move to law school area, Billings may re-enter my mind. There's a sweet area close to Walmart, Costco AND just north is the airport.

If Wyoming or Idaho weren't so devoid of infrastructure, I'd consider them more. Eastern Oregon has Costco (in Bend) and is getting some "Greater Idaho" attention.

The homes in Eastern Oregon visually remind me of east county San Diego. Prices there are nuts.

Law school isn't pointing that way.

If I can save $45k+ on housing for 3 years of law, the house becomes a better investment and can be resold at a small loss with no worries if I don't like the area/weather.
