Most of the astronaut simulator training was accomplished at JSC using two fixed base and one motion based simulators. Moffet Field (Ames) has a very unique simulator called the Vertical Motion Simulator (VMS). It provided a real “seat of the pants†feel for simulated Shuttle landings, especially when simulating blown tires and crosswind landings. It didn’t have a high fidelity cockpit. And it didn’t have actual Shuttle seats. I flew the simulator with Dick Covey after Dick had retired as an astronaut. It was quite an experience. https://www.nasa.gov/centers/ames/research/technology-onepagers/vms.htmlThe hangar is still there. Today I believe Google leases it from NASA. visitors can't see pics , please register or login
Loads of aircraft look to be heavily damaged at Tyndall AFB including F-22s. Buy Lockheed stock. https://www.yahoo.com/news/tyndall-air-force-sustains-catastrophic-damage-141950506.html
There's not even 200 of them. Makes one wonder why they wouldn't have moved them well before the storm.
