Brother Duane Allman died 50-years ago today.  That was a long time ago.

Bobby Whitlock has some interesting stories about him.

I may be a bit confused about one story, but I believe a shirt that Eric Clapton had given him was being worn at the time of the accident. Whether it was or not, apparently somebody close to him took the shirt, cut it up and sold it piece by piece.

I think I also heard that if he wore a helmet, he would have easily survived the wreck. Conflation certainly possible, I'll admit that.

Maybe the story was that he didn't strap the helmet on... I did Google and see that he had internal injuries that would have killed him anyway.

He was 14.

The judge didn't allow his past domestic violence history against women to be used at his murder trial. After killing Dominique Dunne, he served about 2.5 years because the jury didn't know this animal made it common practice to abuse women.
