Noory mentioned he was in the navy for 9 years and only got one ribbon - an achievement award...

For a desk job?

Damn. Naval Reserve Sailors earn a Sea Service metal after a certain number of cumulative days at sea. Whatever he received the Naval Achievement Medal for it wasn't on the bounding blue. 9 years and he must of barely got to sea at all. Maybe never sailed enough even to get over sea sickness? Maybe he got out due to ennui?

Yet another puff piece on Norry by someone who has never listened to the show.

A long one, so much here, the Snorge thinks he's Sinatra:

''This was Sinatra’s table,” Noory told me sliding his hands across the linen between us...''

''Noory, who drinks Jack Daniels whiskey because that what Sinatra sipped...''

''Noory and Rollings dine frequently, and at least weekly, at Carmines... Why Carmines? “Sinatra and Dean Martin frequented the place,” Noory answered...

''and, like Sinatra, “jets himself to ‘Crapsville” on Vegas weekends...

I marvel at the power of marketing and especially image creation.  JD is absolute rotgut horrible, yet somehow it's cool.

Was it for the "achievement" of reenlistment?
😁😁😁
Eh, nevermind...

I don't think he's ever said much about being in the naval reserves other than he was in it and resigned before the gulf war.  A couple of times I heard him say something to the effect he'd had a desk job as a publicist, information officer, something like that, and had never been on a ''boat'' (don't they call them vessels in the Navy)?

Did he say whether he was out sailing, or was it docked?

Did Billy Mumy ever take a trip on that boat?

Don't forget that unforgettable Pat Boone.  I bet he sang a song on it as it descended to the depths of the lake.  Sort of like a Titanic affect.

He showed up like he does most nights on that show.

I believe to the Navy a vessel that is small enough to be carried by another vessel is a boat. Life Boat, Swift Boat, PT Boat, etc. Submarines are always boats as well.

Noory also revealed he got out of being drafted for service fighting in Vietnam, due to a small heart murmur.
But years later when he was offered a commision to be an officer in the Navy they told him it wasn't an issue at all...
