Farm girl here ... learned how to drive on a tractor and stick shift car. One never knows when those skills may come in handy again. 😁😁😁
Ranch kid here, learned to drive stick early too. Remember when the power steering used to go out so you had to use both hands to steer? Lol my first car was a 3 on the tree, one winter I burned out the clutch trying to get unstuck from the snow. It still makes me smile when I think about how red my Dad’s face got when he found out. I had to ride the bus for a month.
There was a little girl,
            Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
            When she was good,
            She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

@Jayzelady I hear you, I really do. it just meant I had to throw hay into the truck rather than drive it. I felt like Rudolph the red nose, ya know. Before they liked him ;D

I was deep into my twenties before I learned that the large round hay bales are extremely heavy.

I was 18 when I learned to shift. While learning I would stall at every. stop. sign. Every. And sometimes cry

That was the good thing about learning to drive on country roads, very few if any stop signs, no cars most times, no cops. And having a very patient daddy helped, but you did have to watch out for cows that had gotten loose. Ahhh...my younger good old days.

Monday the 9th is my birthday and I’ll another year of Boomerhood. Maybe the Snowflakes might be able to get to as many years one day....if they don’t melt first. LOL

Can you drive a stick shift car?

I prefer them, can always be in the correct gear.

I cringe a little when I see a nice sports car or a pickup with automatic; for the car what's the point?; for the truck, what happens in a situation where you need specific gears and the onboard' computer' thinks differently?

That was the good thing about learning to drive on country roads...

I used to take my little Z car out on the backroads after the first snow, and later when they were very icy, drive along and throw it into a spin, a slide, do donuts, chase each other around.

I told myself it was good training for driving in the snow.  I'm not sure all that would have even been possible with an automatic.

I drive a Prius (of course). I hate to admit it would be really annoying to go back to shifting

Interesting and fun fact: The original Honda hybrids were manual transmissions...
Eh, nevermind...

I love giving tours to tourists who look me up. .  Mt. Soledad, In-N-Out Burger, Zoo, Legoland, Safari Park, Petco Park, Dr. Seuss's house, Disneyland, etc., etc...

Then I tell them it's a nice place to visit, but not wise to stay.
