Classic sci-fi.  One of the rare times when the second version was pretty good, too.  Carpenter did a fine job.

Re-watched "Queen of Blood," recently.  Some believe it was an inspiration for "Alien," although Ridley Scott denies it.  A lot of similarities, though.

Agreed, the short story and the movie were both great and I return to them often. I even liked The Thing remake.
Queen of Blood. I've never heard of it so thanks for the info!
