Rix,

Looked out this morning and noticed that someone had hit a rabbit out front of my place. This made me sad because I think it was my little buddy that has a burrow in my front yard. Went to get a shovel to bury but when I got back a vulture swooped in, pulled the bunny out of the road and into my driveway and got to work. I didn't shoo it away because this way the rabbit's death would at least have some meaning.

Never really observed the results of a vulture's work before but they are crazy efficient.  There was some fur, the backbone and four rabbit's feet left and really nothing else.  Posted below are the links to the pictures.  They aren't bad really - nothing worse than a chicken wing or a rabbits foot on a keychain but I don't want to gross anyone out either.

This was not today but a few months ago. I took the picture but forgot to post it then.

There still is some cotton grown here in Dixie:

Well that's too bad.  It kind of reminds me of my last pet rabbit, who was done in by a hawk.  Went out to clean it's hutch and found the body under a tree.  The hawk was equally efficient.  The body was opened up and only the choicest morsels were removed for eating, or taking back to the nest.  I'm sure that in both cases the rabbits died quickly.  That's one thing I learned about them, they don't hang around after being hurt.  They seem to have an inborn sense to (if they are critically sick or injured) will themselves to death.

@GravitySucks Don't fall for it. I did once, and all I found was a giant O! Angels were playing X's & O's and they dropped some.

Look @Rikki Gins , video of @Walks_At_Night  trying to get his breakfast eggs.

Was like that at first. Now when I step out the back door, the bastards expect that I am bringing them something delicious and get all hyper.

Sorry to hear about your rabbit buddy.  It's tough losing a pet, even a wild one.

I once found a squirrel in the yard like that - until now I always thought the cats did it, but that never seemed quite right.

Haha.  That bird wanted to maintain its smoke free environment.
