Dan Kaminsky makes the hackers I know (triumvirate Black White Gray) look like ineffective script monkeys; parrots instead of pirates.

What a void this leaves in the field, on all axes, X Y & Z.

I feel bad for his parent(s)/family. To lose such a young and brilliant son. It is ground beyond hard to hoe.

Meanwhile, there's a metric shit ton of godless cocksuckers out there within WiFi range of any com cluster who deserve to croak ten times over, but continue to thrive and hive.

I'm a bad Buddhist.

You will be missed.

Just awful news.

This guy is likely too young to have been the hacker Bell had on as a guest a couple times on C2C and MitD.  He went by his screen name, but it didn't take much coaxing for him to give his real name.  What I remember most about his first appearance was other hackers calling in and taunting him, bragging about they were better hackers than he was.  It was a nerd fest.  Anyone remember that guy's name?

Yes, that's him.  He was entertaining, especially when he was talking about all the phone phreaking he and his friends did in the 70s.

Thanks Walks.

My first phone phreak attempt at reality hacking the universe , etc. :

I was 10 or 11 years old and obtained a short string of numbers/characters to dial that would ping back the phone line.

You would dial, hang up the receiver, and the phone would automatically ring.

Drove
My
Parents
Bat
Shite
Crazy

The die was cast.  Pure prankster power.

Thank you for the tip, Mr. Telephone Repairman!

Oh shit!  I remember that.  I would do that when my sisters had a new boyfriend.  I would ping back and they would come running. And I would laugh my ass off.

I wish I remembered how to do that.  My daughter is 18 and would go crazy....as I laughed my ass off.

Our phone freaking in the 60s was to find the correct pay phone, put a strip of cardboard down one of the coin slots, deposit coins in the others, and at the end of the call, your money came back.
Merry Christmas

That is some high grade, quality analog freaking activity that you have stored in bio memory.

It is in Original Sin territory: The Telephone Tree of Forbidden Knowledge/Fruit.

With that and Paladin's boy-crazy sisters chasing his Ghost Calls, I experienced a very much needed laugh today.

Johnny Crawford from The Rifleman is dead, 75 (alzheimer's). This according to George Noory, a man I shouldn't be listening to.

I'm glad you had a laugh, Cam.  Sounds like you had 'one of those days.'

I still picture him as the young son of Lucas McCain.

Alzheimer’s at 13 must really suck.
