I had to scroll up fast before kitty came over. I think she gets jealous. But she sure loves You Tube on repeat cat entertainment.
On the poll it says a lot of us use "other". People, what is your "other" cat litter? Did the poll ask about wood pellets?
What I use are about 15 dollar store reusable dish drain pads and occasional disposible piddle pads. Since they have to be changed daily (roughly), I give her three litter boxes so nothing builds up. Hey, the boxes are only a dollar! So, in a day she uses between 2 and 6 pads, depending on her flow or my availability to change them.
They wash up fast on a small load and hang dry fast in the shower on hangers. If you always wash them together, with no other color of items, they will look new and not "pill" for a long time. She and I love them. No more carrying heavy or dusty litter, and no more paying for it either (except the occasional disposible ones, piddle pads).
Sticky tricks for frugal felines:
A disposible pad can last longer when it only has poo on it, if you remove the poo and then place a clean paper towel over where the poo was. That way, she gets one more use out of the disposible pad.
A re-usable, washable pad (dish drain pad) that has poo on it can also last longer if you remove the poo, then fold the pad in half so she gets one more sanitary use.
I like to put the film that the daily newspaper comes in over my hand and arm when working with poo, like a glove. There are always plenty of those. They are kept out of the cat's reach though, as plastic bags are not safe for pets at all.
