That bothers me, too. And who wants the time to look like a whiner to management who probably doesn't care. There was one time that I managed to pull off that confrontation at the register just right though. Delivery came out perfect & I got a new bag (for what little it was worth, since the same hands touched it...) But, sometimes I just walk out.
I try to communicate in the midst of being stunned, but words don't come easily when cashiers are so blind. I mean, where do you even start with someone so ignorant or disobedient? One cashier told me their store wouldn't let them keep that wet sponge thing to help them. Well, instead of using her tongue, she could use a drop from a hand sanitizer pump, even if only water were in it. Some cashiers don't know about SortQuick fingertip moistener.
Last week, I had a rotten experience with a cashier. I went to a different grocery store than usual. I got a lot of stuff including raspberries, with that container that has holes in the bottom. I noticed the conveyor belt had dirty spilled milk on it. Really nicely, I asked the young, male cashier if he could wipe up the spills of milk. Well, this guy was like a robot, probably worried about his stats, & he just wasn't going to deviate from his ordinary routines. Many of my groceries were on the belt, divided around milk puddles (maybe I should have waited until the belt was clean, but lines were long). Anyhow, instead of just toweling up the milk so I could finish putting my groceries on the belt, he left the milk where it was. Then he got a spray bottle full of belt cleaner & sprayed other parts of the belt near my raspberries & food. Since my huge load of groceries was mostly already on the belt, that meant he weaved him spray aim onto different areas of the belt. Questionable judgment! Overspray got on me & my clothes. It smelled like ammonia. OMG. Ammonia on my clothes, crappy old dirty milk STILL on the belt, getting nearer to my raspberries, which were now out of my reach and headed for ammonia puddles with every belt rotation, & me with arthritis not being able to finish setting my purchases on because of his huge new wet puddles. The milk was the closet to the raspberries & getting closer as the belt moved, so I asked him for a paper towel. I didn't expect any problem. The towels were right next to him and I was old enough to be his mom. But, he said, "Hang on." "Hang on"? - Is that any way to speak to an older female customer who has waited patiently for milk to be wiped up! In my career, I never dreamed of talking to a customer that way. I might talk to a coworker that way, or a brother, but not a customer. I think he was preparing to do a thorough belt clean, despite my stuff all over the belt. He was making a production of something, but I didn't sense any spite. Something in me just snapped and I told him not to talk to me so casually and to stop what he was doing & give me a towel. And since I had to move up to confront him, I just kept moving up and next thing I knew I was out the door. My groceries would have been a large purchase, over $200, and I just couldn't spend it there after being treated that way. It's very sad, because I won't go back to that branch for a long time.
I wonder what other people would have done, aside from refraining at the beginning & waiting for the belt to be cleaned. But I'm not a princess & I didn't need the whole belt cleaned. Just the milk! Time and time again, I hear people criticize Walmart, yet time and time I again, I tell myself, "That would have never happened at Walmart. Their people are nice."

Every time I buy apples I feel like I need to ask the check out clerk to please handle them gently, that they bruise easily. Otherwise they roll then down the counter to the bagger and I get home with a bunch of bruised apples.
It takes me awhile to choose produce, only to have it ruined at checkout. If that happens, if I don't get the sale price or the marked price, or some other bullshit, at some point during the conversation I'm just done.

Lol. By underwear, do you mean brassiers? I know one woman who wears an apron everywhere because women's clothing has so few meaningful pockets. I finally figured out to put a wristlet on my keychain - it detaches when I drive. That way, I have a pocket for the phone, the grocery list, etc... I guess there really is no more old fashioned bagger training. I don't like rough cashiers, either. Cold foods mixed in with hot, bananas mixed in with cold foods, etc... Dirty baskets, and even in the displays underneath the produce, things look very grungy - appalling. I'm surprised more people don't get sick from that. Sometimes I wipe my basket with the free wipe, but not sure it helps much.

I hadn't realized that was happening. Can you imagine being disabled & dealing with that. It's bad enough I have to get out of the car just to see the tiny little hours posted on the front door, usually posted in white on a clear background. That's as bad as getting all the way back, to the restroom, only to find out you have to back up and ask for access. Or, detour signs when you could have turned off and taken an alternate route just one block back. Communications were the first thing to go when the economy hit bottom around 2008, & they are only now starting to come back. Workers who were 20 in 2008 worked 11 years at an impressionable age, with poor workplace communications. They accept misinformation as a matter of course.

I personally don't want any nuts in any of my cookies, cakes, pies, candy, ice cream, donuts, etc. Of course some nuts are better than others when embedded in food, walnuts being at the bottom of the list, peanuts and a few others such as macadamia being on the other end of the scale and somewhat tolerable.
That said, there are a few items that wouldn't be the same without nuts, so those can stay - including rocky road ice cream, pee-can pie, a few of the classic candy bars such as Snickers and peanut M&Ms, but it's a real short list

For a really elderly person it's not bad. My company says "use as much tp and gloves as you need". It's nonthing I wouldn't do for myself or a child. And Poo Poo Pourri really works, but the discount brands did not work.
