One of the noblest things Bach wrote, blending triumph and despair -- those suspensions are devastating. The German chorale melody is in the pedals, and I have ventured to set one stanza thus, in an effort to preserve the shockingly vivid language:
In my heart's darkest corner
You hang upon your cross.
Before it I, a mourner,
Exult despite my loss.
Your image stands before me
When fears excite my breath,
As you, my Lord, restore me
And gently bleed to death.[/youtube]
Nice!
Organs are awesome and I'm amazed at people who can play them: so many keys, foot pedals, various stops and buttons to deal with. And one can never go wrong with Bach.

Friggin Walmart commercials they show all the time during games is giving a bad disco earworm. It features the hit "Ring My Bell," which I think Art used as bumper before? So I will pass along the infection:My "Art's Charts" which is pretty comprehensive doesn't include this, but I would love additions from anyone listening to classic shows. I don't know if Bart has this list, but Art Bell got a kick out of seeing it. I'll post it here and link it to Bart in a pm.
I dig Russian Sacred Music. I heard this hymn performed by monks in an 18tn century cathedral in St. Petersburg. Was told that Russian Orthodox churches do not require organs because of the range and richness of tone that these male choirs can deliver. If this moves you at all check out the score from Hunt for the Red October.

Agree. I understand her career went nowhere after that.
Long Strange Trip, the Grateful Dead documentary on Amazon. I've watched episode #2, Here Is Now, several times. It's not so much about the GD as it is about fucking America! Oh beautiful for spaceship skies...That's a great recommendatiton, AB, thanks!
Love The Killers and this song. But my fave song by them is this.
Love Chris. God to pick a fave Chris song. The one you posted is one of mine. I love his stuff so much. I have this in vinyl.
Any of Rick Wakeman’s story albums. My favorite: Journey to the Centre of the Earth - the refrain gets me every time.

Blue Hotel was the first song I'd ever heard of his and I've been a huge fan ever since. He can sing anything as far as I'm concerned! This was also one of my favorites:I think San Francisco Days is my favorite album of his. The newer stuff is ok but that one I can listen to front to back over and over.

Metal Church - Vintage 80's
Wow. Brings back memories.
@Up All Night & @ShayP Sending out [praise] to you. Finally seeing a bit of \m/ \m/ here!! Metal Church - The Dark was classic 86. I'm pushing 50 & still going hard today. There is actually a bit of a thrash revival going on. Attitude never dies.

Saw this live in Boston way back when...
Saw him too back in 1990 (approx.) A band named Ultra Vivid Scene opened. Workbook is one of my favorite albums of all time. :) 8)Saw that same show. UVS was surprisingly good. I saw all of the Sugar tours too.

Here's a ballad from a thrash metal band. Chicks used to dig this long ago. Oh the memories. The Big Four (Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer) should have been the Big Six and included Testament and Exodus.
BTW...Testament rules.
Nice! :D 8) UVS was pretty good. I think their bass player was the chick that went on to play with the Breeders.Yup, Josephine Wiggs. Kim Deal sang backups on UVS song and introduced Kurt and her before The Breeders started. You are making me remember my early 90’s music trivia.

So...LB, let me ask you. How would you rank those 6 bands? I know it's always tough to decide and kind of silly to try to do so being we all have our own tastes, but for fun...tell me. :D
Here are mine (of those 6):
1 ~ Slayer
2 ~ Megadeth
3 ~ Metallica
4 ~ Testament
5 ~ Anthrax
6 ~ Exodus
Guns n' Posers Rule!
:P

In the 80's it would have been Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Exodus. After Slayer, the order is pretty difficult and it probably changes from time to time. Rules are subject to change with or without notice at the discretion of management. As for now, I don't know. Megadeth and Metallica went to shit. The rest are still going pretty hard. I've seen Slayer and Exodus recently and they were both pretty good. I know Testament is still touring. I don't know much about Anthrax. Slayer is on the "farewell" tour right now and they have pretty consistently put out descent albums over the years. Testament and Exodus have put out some descent albums. Anthrax has put out some very questionable work.
I've always hated whiny Axl Rose. But I like whiny Mike Muir.
Piano & Acoustic Guitar ~ ELP ~ Take A Pebble/ Still, You Turn Me On/ Lucky Man
I'd say that Mega was still putting out good albums and shows after Metallica tried the 'new direction.' Some of the recent stuff is good also and still a good show last time I saw. Another thing to consider is you are more likely to see Testament, Exodus, and Anthrax (unless they are touring with the top 3 or at festivals) in smaller venues and so sometimes those are better shows. You aren't going to catch Slayer etc in anything but a huge venue, basically. (And now "last tour" supposedly. Ha. Been there before with so many bands.) And since Testament, Exodus, Anthrax doesn't rely on, as much, elaborate sets, special effects, etc you get to see them more up close and with only fans- not just casual fans or fans who know the MTV hit.
Buckle up ! ! !
Wasn't on the list! >:(
;) ;D
I've recently been re-listening to some Steve Winwood on Amazon Music. What a great talent!
No honestly, I could think of several bands that I love that were'n't on the list like Danzig, Type O Negative and Iron Maiden. I also enjoy Punk Rock and Psychobilly for a thrash/head banging type of music. It was a top of the 80's list. There are many more bands on my personal classics list too. But those were the biggies of the time. That's why it was called the big 4. I like the ones you mentioned too as well as the techno mixes like Ministry & KMFDM. I have just over 7000 songs on my phone with a little bit of every metal genera. Too many to get into. Not much into the overly melodic Nu Metal where they sing like a pop band and then try to go all hardcore and scream overly distorted for a few seconds and then back to the slack shit.

Tennessee Whiskey is the balls. Great tune! He's done some good stuff with the Jompson Brothers as well.
I inadvertently found myself stomping my feet midway through the song!
Ha it's in the blood. You know the story, right? There was a wedding, a guy goes into the cellar to get more beer. There is a fiddler down there, playing sitting on the cask, beating time with his foot, and playing a tune he'd never heard before. He looks closer to see, and the man is holding the violin backwards, with the neck under his chin, and the foot he kicks with is a horse's hoof. That's the song. Thanks!
Thanks!
I thought some murder or trollish antics but never looked it up. Here is an interesting translation

The music almost died away ... then it burst like a pent-up flood;
And it seemed to say, "Repay, repay," and my eyes were blind with blood.
The thought came back of an ancient wrong, and it stung like a frozen lash,
And the lust awoke to kill, to kill ... then the music stopped with a crash,
Most underrated Donovan song ever, maybe because it got zero airplay.

Like why there's a million drummers better than Rainman Ringo Starr?
Why jamming the blues puts me to sleep, and that there are very few true blues greats?
Hamers were better than Gibsons.
Why the Beatles remix of Sgt. Pepper was incorrectly done?
I think that posting music vids that others might enjoy listening to is primarily the purpose of this thread, as it was in the old one. Comments are nice though, and a note here and there about interesting aspects of the music are fun. I don't know how much discussion Dyna had in mind when she started the thread but I'm sure that we don't want to overly analyze music in general. We might get into some fights and we certainly don't want to turn this into another politics thread. The reason I say this is probably because I happen to like (gasp) rap music.
I thought Ringo was fine. He was never flashy but could keep a beat and his deft hand never overwhelmed the melody. I love Keith Moon but sometimes his drumming overwhelmed the songs and could be a bit distracting. Ringo was perfect for the Beatles and their hitmaking factory.
Honey, that was real nice. Good +1.
The sound is a little low but the quality is good. I'm amazed at how well modern live performances can sound

I cannot put my finger on what the melody is here, I swear I have heard it before, I think this is a cover or a mashup. Whatever it is, it is now my new theme song... (I think the title is actually Tru-Galu)Snoopy? Sorta same? Always hear as "Snoopy" not "Sloopy?"
They remind me of another local favorite of mine the Malachy Papers, I don't think they are a thing anymore... sort of a project band, I have one of their CDs somewhere. I used to run in the same circle sort of as the dude playing bass. I did sound for them at somebody's wedding back when I had my bitchin sound system, good thymes...
Here's 1 of 6 videos of them playing a show somewhere, groovy stuff:
I have to say the Boogaloo 7 wins, although they do have more people (I think Malachy Papers were a trio, or perhaps quartet.)
Enjoy.
Snoopy? Sorta same? Always hear as "Snoopy" not "Sloopy?"

St. Vincent, er, Annie isn't the most original but fun for the most part...Actually a nice song. Thanks Sean. I love the architecture and colors in the video, the whole spartan retro-futurist cubist look with my favorite color palette. I hope things look more like this circa 2040.

Legends. RIP. Not their best but since last song together, apparently, I figured I'd post that.
While I knew both of those names, I didn't know the story behind it all. I wonder if Merle intentionally killed himself after that accident with a table saw (as in the Wikipedia entry).... It could have ruined his guitar playing.
Fascinating and revealing lecture by Led Zep's main man, Jimmy Page. Quite an intellectual as it turns out.

These "music" threads just suck huge ass. Nobody discusses anything they just keep pasting videos. Why don't you cunts actually discuss something about the muuusic you post! don't you realize that nobody actually takes the time to check out what YOU LIKE?? They don't!! So stop it!
You screw your pooch your way, and I'll screw mine the way I want to, eh? Besides, some of us do discuss things to the extent that we want to. Point of fact, Dave Mustaine is a god that has created so much that it's hard to pick just one and not turn the whole thread into a MD thread...I could go on and on infinitum but that ain't me. So, for now, you can just enjoy the following vid, knowing more of Dave Mustaine's stuff is to come (assuming I dont get too bored with this place) Satisfied?!?!?
Also, some of the other music posted is boring. You want me to post shit about the music someone else likes? I say NO!
p.s. I was so much under the influence when I posted that buckcherry vid that its amazing that I managed to do even just that..see you in court cos you seem the litigious sort lol
It is my hope for you that you'll one day ascend to that of dimwit status thus fully utilizing those double digits you operate on
Omg a cheesy song I love from the 80s has roots in the 60s and The Pretenders covered it. So three versions. I learned the original on bass tonight.

Geddy Lee's family story...
Actually, that's the original Atlanta Rhythm Section record sped up from 33â…“ to 45 RPM. Steven Gaines (I think) was the singer. Sped up, sounds like Stevie Nicks!
Wild...
Guess I don't know what a cover is then. I always thought a "cover" of a song was when anyone but the original artist performs the work. Hmmm...up until now I always thought that Fleetwood was the original. interesting. Anyway, thanks for sharing. It's time to start my day so I'll have to give that interview a listen sometime later
I think the person who uploaded it titled at that just to get more attention.
It is amazing though. A guy from the south sped up sounds like damn, I don't know where Stevie Nicks is from... Arizona? (I try not to Google shit too much, my brain is dying here)
Takes a while to get going, but there’s never been a better version of this Bacharach/David song.
I still want one of those hats.
Nice upload!Thankee kindly and as the old homily goes...post often!
Assuming I'm correct in my presumption that it's really just an open-secret you were Metron in another life, I'll say that even though you kind of crossed a line once or twice (according to my faulty memory and opinion) I enjoy the way you express yourself. You are a fine writer and very persuasive. Welcome back.
If I'm wrong about you being someone else....oops, sorry. I've read a few of your posts, 26, and enjoyed them
@26 horses , is Kraftwerk one of your favorite groups? Often times, I will go to a concert and can not believe that the band members have aged. This is an outrage that time is aging some of us. However, Kraftwerk is ageless on stage. About 3 years I went to their"3D"concert. They were dressed in their matching suits and moved like robots in front of their synthesizers. A huge 3D screen was in place behind the band. The audience wore 3D eye glasses. What great fun for me to look at this audience wearing 3D eye glasses with the Autobahnon the big screen. Kraftwerk remains ahead of their time.

A very Art Bell musical tie in:A unique instrument it is. It was good to see Mike Pinder come back and be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year with the other remaining active Moodies, a long overdue honor for The Moody Blues and well deserved.
I love how it literally sounds like an entire movie soundtrack or score. ;)
I had a Mellotron M4000D Mini but got rid of it when I sold off a bunch of junk I wasn't using much.It would have been fun to play around with. I saw one of the old Mellotron models that The Moody Blues supposedly used in their Days of Future Passed album at a music museum tour years ago. A lot of history there and before the digital music age.
Now I just use the ezkeys Mellotoon vst if I need a similar sound.

I watched the Patrick Moraz v. Moody Blues trial. It was completely sad. Honestly, I can't listen to the Other Side of Life any longer. Theere's only one way to Rock . . .
I remember this guy from the great documentary "The Decline of Western Civilization: The Metal Years!" Apparently his music career never took off so he started scamming people claiming he was in contact with big stars and bands, promoting concerts, etc.Hmm the bass player was talking about that guy last week as we were tearing down. That was the first I've heard of this now known "grifter" and now a second time. Guess he found some fame after all.. :-\ Didn't some of those guys in that movie say they were going to off themselves if they didn't "get signed"?

It was the biggest disaster in the history of the music business — and almost nobody knew. This is the story of the 2008 Universal fire.
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/11/magazine/universal-fire-master-recordings.html
Among the losses were the entire AVI Records catalog, all of Decca's masters from the 1930s to the 1950s, most of the original Chess masters which included artists such as Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, as well as most of John Coltrane's master tapes from his later career on Impulse! Records. On Twitter, Rosen stated that the Coltrane masters were among the most checked-out Impulse items in the vault, and a source had told him that the masters for A Love Supreme were likely elsewhere during the fire.
On June 25, Rosen wrote a follow-up article, listing at least 700 additional artists named in internal UMG documents as possibly affected. Rosen wrote that it was impossible to determine which recordings had been destroyed, or how much of an artist's discography had been affected. For example, Rosen said it was difficult to confirm whether the Neil Young recordings listed in the documents were the original master tapes of the albums he recorded for Geffen Records in the 1980s or session outtakes from those records. Rosen tweeted that the documents also listed several Broadway cast recordings among the tapes destroyed.

This is the kind of great music that used to get played on FM radio in the early 70's, before the Corporate Conglomerate Companies took over the airwaves, and made sure only common music got played to the masses as part of naked greed, and Social Engineering.
What a wasted talent. Gone too soon by his own accord.
Man oh man, this is almost worth flying to NYC to see and not waiting till I can see it here. I have always adored her, saw her live so many times I can't count them, loved every time. Took photos of her from when she was first starting out, from a Lenox, MA outdoor concert, 35mm b&w film, live. Still have the negatives somewhere, I think.
And her Parkinson's having silenced her voice just breaks my heart.
sounds good..
Which reminds me of this one. Happy Witching Season, Art. Wherever you may be
Gotta love the 60s. Groovy
The guy that put this record together was from the Pete Best band... Yes that Pete Best.
This is one of the best songs of the modern rock era, in my humble opinion.
I really like it. Great soulful singing and the production is good. Is that Pete on the drums? Only it's too short. Intro should be longer and needs a good ending. I guess everything had to be 2:30 minutes for am radio. I can't believe everyone had to listen to rock on am.
I am in a folky, coffee house mood today.
You know, like this.
Fucking Goutube - ::)
Every time I allow requests from EG to YT it eats up all my RAM and locks my browser. >:(
Anyway. has anyone else heard the new WHO single ? (I can't see if it was posted without allowing requests to Goutube)
They've been playing it on the radio quite a bit since its release.
They sound pretty damn good, considering their age.
In fact, I don't think there's been any voice degradation from Roger, which is pretty damn impressive for a 75 Y.O. .

Since Pete Townshend has ties to the San Diego arts scene (the production of Tommy debuted here in the area before going off to Broadway and winning all sorts of awards) he spent a little extra time here they did two shows and Pete made some appearances outside of the band. There was some coverage in the local media but I failed to follow up on their mention of a new album
I'm heading over now to check it out, thanks!
Sounds very amateurish and dumbed down to me. ButwhatWHO do I know.
I was in the mood for this so thought I would share. Love the guitars
Happy Tuesday Afternoon
Hey @sean92008 , @Aquarius and @Bart Ell , and any other rock music connoisseur, I've been watching this guys youtube videos. He seems to know a lot about rock music and, although I don't always agree with his picks, the videos are fun to watch.
Do you know anything about him? BTW, he says "Fat" a lot
A producer who was smart enough to see he would make more on YouTube.
He is also smart enough to balance clickbait videos with actual teaching ones.

The Moody Blues are the Fleetwood Mac of the sixties. Where else would you be in existing "hit" band and get new members who made them incredibly successful? Steve Perry joining Journey, that might be another example. I am not sure, but didn't Steve Perry join after the first album or two?+++1 :-* :-* :-*
Eh, nevermind.

In a quite different mood, today I came across this really spine-tingling video of a Georgian choir singing the 53rd Psalm to Pope Francis. It's in Aramaic, the ancient older, original language of parts of the bible iirc, but certainly the languate of one of the most important and holy chants in Judiasm, the Kol Nidre.
This is really unusual, it literally gave me chills. Enjoy.
I played Emory Oglethorpe Cato in Mame, but we didn’t do it in Aramaic.
Drat. You replied to this before I could fix the link, sorry. Just posted the corrected one. You're too fast! ;D +1
Here is the correct one again.

Jeff Lynne is back with some more infectious earworms...
Here's something. Here's something. All these songs suck!
Desire
Whispered spoken
In time
Rivers oceans
That ain't me babe
That ain't me babe
That ain't me babe
I'm just content to relax
Than drown within myself
Of mind
Sheltered broken
Denied
Gifted stolen
That ain't me babe
That ain't me babe
That ain't me babe
Ain't got a bed of excuse for myself
That ain't me babe
That ain't me babe
Ain't got a bed of excuse for myself
That ain't me babe
That ain't me babe
That ain't me babe
I'm just content to relax
Than drown within myself
“Desire†seems forlorn yet blissful, the kind of unhurried music, until…that cowbell comes raging in.
Spandau Ballet may agree with me.
OMG, I found this this other day and I was laughing so hard.

@Bart EllWow. These are really great art pieces.

Wow. These are really great art pieces.Hmm I think you're being sincere but can't be certain.
Hmm I think you're being sincere but can't be certain.
Though they are wonderous to l0''0k at they are not necessarily "art" as they are full functioning musical instruments *guitars* One may hang them on the wall in a mount or even under glass but they are NOT, art. @PolkaDot 8)

@Bart Ell Had to do a double take. Dude loves the sun!

@KSM, I was being absolutely and truly sincere. Form follows function so the act of creating beautiful and intriguing pieces that are perfectly functional is, in itself, the epitome of art. Art is not just pretty things to look at. So, while I appreciate your perspective, I will have to disagree. These are beautiful pieces of art.
There was a time when I would have wanted them all. What's the catalyst?
Not now.
The Great Bart Ell Sell Off of 2020 started last week.
What's the catalyst?A lot of guys are selling off their gear. Usually at a huge loss. I'd sell 80% at a fair used price but not at an insulting loss. Hell I'll keep it all and burn it with me when I DIE!!!
What's the catalyst?
Advancements in technology mostly.Modern Bart vs Nostalgic Bart

I don't like old things... or people.Ageist.
400% profit on average with this sell off.oh I know. Our drummer guy works for L&M and is always pushing the wonderful boxes on me. For me it would be selling off guitars and mics and there is the problem. Unless I want to sell my two old Paul's I won't be happy with what I'll get for all the other gear. Even the Lynch guitars.
The BluGuitar Amp 1 is the real deal.
It replaces dozens of amps and cabs and sounds amazing through their Twincab, Fatcab or the Blubox.
Even the Lynch guitars.
Unless he dies!Watch my six 8)
@Bart Ell that was pretty C 8) 8) L
Not sure what the speed baggin' clips were about in there. A friend of the bands perhaps. LOL Harem Scarem drummer great vocals though.
Dude. I had no idea that was the Actual drummer singing in the previous song. Thought he was just a separated twin. They all got different gigs going at once now?
On a slightly different level; lower level; I just saw a live Saxon video from 1985 and they were the most ugliest mismatched looking cucks on the planet. Short hair and moustaches in hard rock back then. GGrraaawwwggglll one guy looks like an actual pirate :o Avast Ye Matey!!
been mental off-roading again...."The House Of Dolls" ;)
A little late with this but posting it in tribute to Neil Innes who died on 12/29.....song by the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band...kind of the missing link between The Beatles and Monty Python. This is their only hit produce by Apollo C. Vermouth aka Paul McCartney.
+1 more introduced by future Innes collaborator, Eric Idle.
That song has ALWAYS been in my playlists. Killer! Everything about it!

He was 21 when they recorded this in 1989.
Probably the best Led Zeppelin song Led Zeppelin never recorded.
I thought Crackhead Bob was dead, why is he doing Elton John impersonations, @KSM32 ?No amount of VOMITING can translate how I feel about that. And the basketballs with the portable net stand IN FRONT OF THE GARAGE? What is he at 14 yr old Greg's house????
I'M TILL TANDING
I thought Crackhead Bob was dead, why is he doing Elton John impersonations, @KSM32 ?Maybe his balls dropped.
I'M TILL TANDING
Maybe his balls dropped. His piano has single coil pickups.
I'd want a refund if I paid for a ticket to hear Elton and got that.

Sweet Baby Jesus!Remember the horrible SNL anniversary show where Paul McCartney sounded like death warmed over? Can't find it anywhere.
This can not be the real Elton.
Great live performance of this song by Mountain. 'Theme for an Imaginary Western.' I love that song.
Wasn't Felix Pappalardi shot by his wife? (Google-less memory test)
Leslie West is considered a guitar diety, not a full-on god, right?
My introduction to Rock'n'Roll, was by way of Paul McCartney & The Beatles in 1964. I love this cover of Little Richard! RIP
That one is great! It's never been discussed by Beatle-ologists... (That I've ever heard)
Yeah.Um :-[ Not YET!
Is this in your CD collection, @KSM32 ?

How did you know I'm a Frank?

I didn't know they had ice cream in KoreaSince they copy the Japanese in pretty much everything, they do have ice cream and it might taste like beer, green tea or, if you're lucky, it might be sweet.

It seems to me that Japanese ice cream is sort of a combination of sherbet and American style ice cream that comes in weird flavors. Don't much like it. Maybe the Koreans will improve on it.

"Dark-Eyed Cossack Girl" - Leonid Kharitonov & The Alexandrov Red Army Choir (1969)This reminds me a little of when Andy Kaufman did the Mighty Mouse theme song. :)
How many late night shows had lyrics as part of their theme?
I dunno...
I really like Craig Ferguson. Even his creation of Doc Martin, a quality (yet quirky) show that he only got "based off of" credit for.
I once purchased an extra large Tootsie Roll in Veneta.
Look @SpookPumpkin , kitty cat!
Have you seen this guy, @ShayP ?
Dang it, once I start watching these old Blues videos I can easily lose 4-5 hours...
Thanks for this one Rik, somehow I missed Sister Rosetta
You bet, PB. I was surprised to find it myself as I was going through 60s garage band vids at the time. lol
Check out the venue - it's an old railroad depot, with tracks between the stage and the audience. When the camera shows her from the side you can see a highway going past up behind the seats. In the beginning of the video, she walks past a sign that says ''Chorltonville''... :
Wilbraham Road railway station Manchester, England opened in 1892... The railway line has since been converted into a cycle track.
On 7 May 1964, Granada Television transformed the disused buildings into Chorltonville, a southern U.S.-style station, for a programme called Blues and Gospel Train with Muddy Waters, Otis Spann, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Rev. Gary Davis and Cousin Joe Pleasant.

... the kids watching (and digging it) were all white.
Okay. @Bart Ell I had to listen to him do Forever again and I like it even more. The Blaze tune...The Edge of Darkness. Wow. I wish Bruce never left back then. Blaze, well, I couldn't get into him. However he did have some decent tracks. Where was Raphael Mendes back then!??? Probably unborn. Anyway...
To the first video and the variety of the songs. Loved them all except for the Evanescence and Bryan Adams song.
This guy is amazing!
I am not quite sure what is going on here, @ShayP

For those collectors amongst you...
Is the hibachi being auctioned off?
That was good, @ShayP. Thanks!
Not to be cruel, the vocals seem to have the same affectations (maybe not the right word in this context) of a person a little deeper in the autism spectrum.
Musicianship too.
Now, I'll go Google it.
Thanks. @Rikki Gins I've been on a Clutch kick lately. Here's another one. I think you may like it.
I was torn which song to post. Why Do I Feel? and My Pal Foot Foot (About a lost cat) are every bit as good as Philosophy of the World. They also did a Halloween tune that will show up here in a couple weeks.
@sean92008 Don't forget Mr. "Beach Boys" Wilson.
Probably the number one thing I miss the most during Corona flu is going out to see live music. Here is one of the local bandsThat's great, I enjoyed that! We used to seek that stuff out pre china virus. All the places are open but no live music because it is considered a "concert" :o Even two guys with acoustic guitars singing folk songs on a 4' - 4' stage in the corner of the pub is now a FUCKING CONCERT!
Meh... "Sgt. Zippo." If Sgt. Jocko or Sgt. Killmore, that's one thing. Zippo lighters surely existed in the UK.
This video is ridiculous, but I can't get enough. Oh those teenage memories.
Speaking of ridiculous, MTV allowed some really bad crap on...
Damn man. That was one of the worst things I've ever seen in a music video. I wholeheartedly regret watching that. ;) ;D

@ShayP @sean92008 (I added you Sean just because) WATCH THE WHOLE THING! WITH THE SOUND, ON!!
Screw it. I'm listening to Waylon this morning.@ShayP
always hated the Red Rocker ugh

No love for Prog Rock?I could look Chris Squire in the eyes... Is that prog enough?

Nice. Fact: Waylon was 6'1 on one leg and 5'11 ish on the other leg.
Hell I'll buy ya' that Writers Tears for your birthday! lemme know

@KSM32 LMAO at the Frodo remark. Hey man, I have to admit...I dig Sammy. The Van Halen 5150 album is one of my favorites EVER! 8) I like some of his solo stuff and the Montrose stuff. Don't know much about Chickenfoot or whatever the hell his band was called. ;D@ShayP Montrose I LIKE! But I'm a Van Roth Halen myself.
@KSM32 So Waylon was technically 6 feet if he stood up straight? LOL! ;)PM me when your birthday approaches. Find out what a bottle of Writers cost in your area. @ShayP
Man, I appreciate it but I wouldn't feel right. I'm not used to getting gifts. :-\ But if you insist. ;D
Also on the short list:@sean92008 All the members of AC/DC with the exception of bass player cliff Williams in the 5'9 - 5'11 :-\
Ronnie James Dio
Barely reached the urinal.
@ShayP Montrose I LIKE! But I'm a Van Roth Halen myself.Diamond Dave was the standard for a flashy lead singer (Mick who?) BUT... Van Hagar was like a damn fucking good band that bucked the "new lead singer" thing. Other than Fleetwood Mac, what other bands survived that big of a change after making it big without becoming an oldies act?

Don't you dare try saying "Journey." Mac and VH hired Journey to wash their jocks.
I see Brian is involved in a new project, considering the voice issues, that was great. Bon Scott looked like he was a fun time though. No filters!
It used to be the big kids were jocks and small ones were smart or artistic. Then came Mick Fleetwood, JY from Styx and the bass guy from Aerosmith 😁
Hmmm. Maybe it's my current sate of mind @Bart Ell but I like it. :D

They are all back. It's a regurgitated Runaway Train AKA Rock n Roll Train.
Except the dead guy.
It's a regurgitated Runaway Train AKA Rock n Roll Train.
If you fuckers wanna open a Van Halen Roth vs Hager thread, do it. I'll participate. They were two different bands/animals entirely but the band with Roth was a considerably Better Animal. Ff' it wasn't for Roth, Sammy would not have had a viable gig after his Dokken fame bands. Nothing against the Dokken's.
Fist bump on the Journey hate
They are all back.
Except the dead guy.
...and the pedo???
It's AC/DC.TRUE. Yep.
200 ways to play the same song.
Yes. And rather sloppy about it. Obviously.
The AC/DC drummer is the murder for hire guy.
That's Judas Priest.
The AC/DC drummer is the murder for hire guy.
AC/DC had one of the biggest albums of all time with a replacement singer.
Whatever happened to drug convictions being the bad thing a guy in a band does?
Chuck Berry.
Without googling... He put a peephole or camera in a women's bathroom, right?
@Bart Ell was Malloy just auditioning in that video or what exactly was that?
Also I would like to hear about Vito Bratta crying episode. You made him cry :'( Slave driving studio takes?
He was in Van Halen for a few weeks.Well isn't he a pretty boy.
One day the Vito story will be told in full.
I do believe there is a video of the incident somewhere out there.
Well isn't he a pretty boy. They're the worst society can offer up. Confused, mixed up weirdos with a Peter Fuckin' Pan syndrome. ::)
There are many distractions but once you see it....
Well, their girlfriends didn't dress them but the singer is wearing his girlfriend's leggings. That ponch and leggings... Bad mix. Especially because he's playing with himself, those things must feel good 🙄🙄🙄
Too bad, he's got a good voice for that song.
There are many distractions but once you see it....

and the other guy is strumming along with a hand that looks like a little tiny elephants foot.
Does it have to do with the bass player?
Well I see two things. The drummer is facially similar to one internet personality called Dark Side Phil and the other guy is strumming along with a hand that looks like a little tiny elephants foot.:o
other guy is strumming along with a hand that looks like a little tiny elephants foot.Hard to believe he works for a moving company.
Mood swing. Toto video. Even after all these years, when I see her lift her leg onto the trash can (around the 3:10 mark), Whew! It's always done "something" for me.
You can see beyond the Burton Cummings looking doofus and focus on her gams?
Gams?
I have been spending too much time with Mrs. Thompson.

LOL!!! I always wondered why they did such a close-up of him in the video.
She's a bip bop dirty star-shine thing
She kissed my skin like an angel's wing
Solid gold love in a rat skin fur
Planet earths spin in space for her
Blue static fizz on a detuned station
Sleeping beauty with a bad reputation
Divine, drunk goddess of love
I said you goddess of love
I love you planet girl.
Strange, deranged
She's a bullet-proof poem
Dance trance drugs in a star war zone
Laser beam lips give me kiss of life
Sex explosion with baby midnight
Psyhcotic erotic want to mad energy
Electrons snap when she touch me
Divine, drunk, goddess of love oh yeah.

I believe this is your second dip into Zodiac Mindwarp in this thread.
I bought that album when I was a kid because of the constant mentions in Kerrang but nobody else had ever heard of him.
I love TV and I love T. Rex.
Yes, the second song, Bart. Don't take it for gospel but I think the band is still active. I like Zodiac and that album you bought is great. I just might buy the cd yet, someday.
I saw them playing at a festival in Germany about 10 years ago.
It was The Bart and a bunch of British guys watching them on the second stage.
Did any of them have girlfriends?
I sometimes forget Brian Johnson could actually sing.I'm enjoying the scarves, but the hair? :(
I didn't interview them.
Have you been able to find out how often these people bathe, @SpookPumpkin ?
I'm enjoying the scarves, but the hair? :(
This one gets @DaveScottSOR prick hard.
Celebrating the new AC DC album and the hope for Oktoberfest next year...
Beard Boy has a Ghost shirt on, @ShayP is hard!
Very close to the beginning when she stands completely up flicking her hair - if you look - down - tween her legs.. curtains. Yummy. Yep.
#LetsLickStuff
@ShayP
I always get the impression that Ä°brahim has just returned from the men's room.
Nice to see that a cherished keepsake from a fake friend or ungrateful family member of a celebrity isn't being sold... Rather, the celebrity gave it away in a magazine contest...Why would a family member selling an item of a dead celebrity qualify as ungrateful? I’m confusticated by the characterization.

I will not, cuz I'm nice n stuff but I wish @Bart Ell would judge you.

I bet he eats ice cream while listening to The Carpenters.
This is my anthem to most of my family and 'the establishment.' BTW...GWAR was a lot of fun and the dudes are cool. RIP ~ Oderus Urungus aka Dave Brockie.
Bob Mould's album, Workbook, to me is still one of the best.Excellent album and by far his best work.
I took some flack earlier for the Carpenters song. Karen Carpenter rules. Anyway, right now I'm about Anne Murray. She's from Canada, so it would be sacrilege for @KSM and @Bart Ell to speak ill of me and my desire to play this song 10 times in a row, then lay in a fetal position on the floor while softly weeping as the street light shines through the window on my moist, glistening, nude body. Think about that. Yeah...you are.

Little Caesar was a weird band. Biker types but nice seeming all while looking like they were just involved in a barroom brawl. Singer tried to break into movies too. I forget which movie but he's an xtra in a biker bar (duh) and gets beat up with a pool Q.
Their Chain of Fools cover was pretty good.
I saw them 4 or 5 times opening for Kiss on the Hot In The Shade tour.So this tells me that you saw KISS 4 or 5 times on the same tour. I'm guessing that this was on a professional level. Unless :-\... like a "deadhead" you were a 'Kisshead'.. :o
I loved the album but they were out of their element on an arena stage.
That album is probably my favorite Bob Rock production but came out at the wrong time.
Little Caesar was a weird band...
So this tells me that you saw KISS 4 or 5 times on the same tour.
Nope.So you followed Kiss around like a Dead-Head. I'm not judging you, just.. it is what it is. Ok. Fine. That is what you have me believing. ok fine. Not judging. Ok then so that's it. Okay.
8-10 times.
The other times Winger was opening.
A song from an album you will never, ever, ever, ever again be able to legally purchase or stream in any form. Ever.
Maybe some estate people will realize the importance of having it out... Maybe?
Nope.
WB, as part of a civil lawsuit, agreed to never rerelease it.
It's a dark and ugly story that one day will fully surface.
Where do these guys get their zany outfits?
Is there some chain with a tiny store in every city that sells hair band costumes and swag?
The store is usually 2 doors down from the store where men who think those outfits are zany buy their pants that they pull up to right below their mantitties.Don't bring politics into the normal every day threads, dude.

The Atlanta Rhythm Section had a great deal of pedigree with session-musician members, well-established songwriters and famous friends.
I love the album Champagne Jam (I love this track's changes!!!). Listening to it, you can hear elements of The Zombies, Queen, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. A lot of those Southern bands had much more of a pop influence than they probably cared to admit. (Ed King from Skynyrd could attest to that.)
The album's lyrics are surprisingly mystical and deep. While I love tracks like Imaginary Lover and The Ballad of Lois Malone, this is worthy of sharing. Written in the 1970s but applies to today's world, it contains the classic line "... pour me a double." Listen to the song to hear it in context.
God Bless ARS!
Interesting. Classic fat guy vocals. Great guitar sound.
How is it that he doesn't really look like either of his parents. Well.. sort of. Neither of them were lookers but still, they were thin (for the most part) non-lookers.
Drum Wolfie looks gassed by the first chorus.
Hey! You stole my video! I'm glad you did 😺. He just got smothered by too much Mother Love. But what an awesome tune and smart vid. You left off my commentary too: Only thing wrong with America is not enough rock and smart humor. Hey. Here's another one. Pull out your hankie for this one
Of course you got Wolfie's drop first when it was still warm and steaming. I should have known better. How good is it to grow up having Eddie Van Halen teach you every instrument in the world as you're growing up. You guys that can play all your own instruments on your own songs à la "Don't Back Down". Much Respect
@Rikki Gins I had no idea what to expect when I played this video. And this beautiful deep full soprano comes out of this underfed little girl. Why is she wearing scrubs? She is the "Operatic Medic". I have a favorite aria playlist and will add her and Follow her on Instagram
This one did not get enough love.
Oasis made it okay toplagiarizewear your influences on your sleeve.

You know you want to hate it but you can't.
To me, one of the best songs to play while driving late at night.@ShayP Good Call! That one also goes extremely well with a late night campfire at the river. But best if you're alone and between 1-3 am as you sip your whiskey from the bottle and nurse your flames.
I really liked the Some Girls album.
That was my first Stones record.
That's a great first.
The Stones did disco well. Emotional Rescue.

Here’s one I heard last week I hadn’t heard in ages.
I love that song. For some reason I haven't thought of it in quite some time.Same here. Great song. Great sound and singer.

Take AC/DC for instance. Some folks favor Bon Scott where others, Brian Johnson. For me it varies from song to song and not one singer over the other. @whoozit

Do you @Camazotz Automat have any opinion on this? I cannot imagine Bon singing For those About To Rock but that said I am not all that happy hearing Brian singing Whole Lotta Rosie ETC. I am not in the camp that one guy is better than the other. Shoot To Thrill or Shake A Leg (best riff ever) is unimaginable by any other vocalist on the planet - then and now.
But this I stand by; no better replacement for Bon than Brian.
I liked the Bon craziness. Brian turned out to be the lead singer for me. I like the voice better and that's the voice I hear when I think ACâš¡DCVery well put.
Very well put.
Bon had a way about him. stage movements were... interesting.. his live vocals were freaking awesome. No cutting corners!
I agree about Brian being the "voice" of AC/DC although that could be an age thing. I'm sure a 60 yr old fan might be a di-hard Bon guy in this respect. @sean92008
Yes. Take AC/DC for instance. Some folks favor Bon Scott where others, Brian Johnson. For me it varies from song to song and not one singer over the other. @whoozitBack in Black was one of the first albums I bought so I tend to think Brian as the voice of AC/DC. I don’t think they would have become as big and remained a more niche band and not the juggernaut they are (were?) if Bon had not passed.

That is precisely why I stay oot of here. Continuous song posting with virtually no "Discuss"ion of music itself. @whoozit Perhaps an aptly titled thread would have served better.I still buy vinyl records. My favorite music to listen to is always changing. I can not imagine being a musician in 2021. A friend stopped over yesterday. He played his band's latest cut on his cell phone for me. ::)

Dio's voice is a lot bigger than he was... Using the kids' urinal was necessary. Doh!
😁
PS his family was sooooo cool to my friend after RJD died. She was corresponding with Dio over the years (she was even in the Decline of Western Civilization: Metal Years movie). She also had cancer. After he died, the family kept in touch and helped out on occasion. I believe her vanity plates with an RJD reference, were given to the family after her death.
@KSMA few things there.
Both Bon and Johnson ring true for me, depending on the song. Tonally, if I HAD to choose one over the other, I would choose Johnson, specifically during the Back in Black/For Those About To Rock periods.
But I would not in any way prefer Johnson to sing Let There Be Rock et al. Bon permanently branded those songs with his unique sound. Similarly, I prefer Paul Di' Anno's punkish vocals on early Iron Maiden no matter how great Bruce sounds on later Maiden.
This isn't always the case. For example, I think Dio effectively covered early Sabbath.
The main thing - perhaps the KEY takeaway point - about my opinion, is I hate The Jonas Brothers like I'm a barking mad rabid bat.
I worked at Wendy Dio's antique store on Ventura Blvd near Laurel Canyon. The job was given to me as a favor so that I could stay in the country when other things went sideways during my first few months there.

I'm looking forward to the new Iron Maiden album. This particular song's intro sounds like country music. I dig it. I believe the album is being released on 9/3. Can't wait.Great video!

You're right. That was a little shadow-selfy for sure. Heh heh.
Time for an attempt at levity:
I am desperately trying to find a particular music video.
Featuring :
Actor Daniel "James Bond" Craig on lead vocals.
Actor Jack "Steve McGarrett" Lord in a leather vest on guitar.
Actor Richard Lynch, shirtless, on guitar.
Comedian Howard Stern on drums.
Marilyn Manson on keyboards.
And finally, a Celtic-hooded mystic Jesus on bass.
I know I have that link here somewhere. I just can't seem to find it right now.

I am not at all surprised when Alice ultimately smashes the chair. My favorite Cooper track. Saw him in concert a few years back. The dude was a nonstop singing machine. He’s 73 and is still blasting away in concerts.
But.
Even after allllll these years later, I am STILL pleasantly shocked when he breaks his cane earlier when striking the chair. It feels so unscripted when that cane shard violently shears screen left.
And at this late date, I am vastly more interested in that beautifully shaped lead guitar than in the shape of the errant no talent bimbo.
Properly maintained, that guitar will last another 200 years. Easy.
Love this old video. No one sings like Alice Cooper.

@Bart Ell Deaf Dealer gave me the Iron Maiden vibe sprinkled with some Helloween and a little Queensryche. I really like it. I must know more about them and acquire their music. Thanks! 8)
The first album KEEPER OF THE FLAME sounds like shit but the songs are great.
Their second album JOURNEY INTO FEAR is a masterpiece.
Years ago when that guy was doing The Fret Files show and he had the squatter on doing music updates she talked about JIF and then The Bart called her on her nonsense and even pulled a pic of their rehearsal space out of the Bartchives.

An old pal of The Bart with something I think @ShayP may enjoy.Yup. Recognized, but might not have if you hadn't pointed it out. Had to run that through my system - LOUD. I haven't done a search so I'll just ask, is that from an album or is it just a single? I need some new stuff in my main play list and that would certainly have a place.

Oh my. They did come to rock. @Bart Ell Music videos in the he 80's were something else. The keyboard player likes to thrust! But seriously, were these guys a big thing in Canada? I don't recall coming across of any of their music here in the states, so I'm not sure of how wide their popularity was.

Not sure what legal standing he has because someone pointed out he sold the rights to his collection some years back.
He sold out years ago? Now it all makes sense.
They pointed out half assed information, then.
His songs his choice.
Why do you hate freedom so much?
Could it be that there is no coincidence that self-admitted asshole David Crosby was bandmates with this guy? 😁
There's stuff I love from him, but not enough to fill a greatest hits album. I believe it was Geffen Records that dropped him because he refused to do anything worth selling.
Cinnamon Girl only goes so far...

One of those songs that cleanses the palate.Yes, indeed. One of those songs that really takes you back to the time of it’s release. And, of course, an Art Bell favorite.
When I need sound constructions but not necessarily music, my go to is Thomas Köner. I've purchased almost every disc he has released. So I have legitimately supported his ambient work as much as I've cracked the wallet for Iron Maiden's metal work. Heh heh.
Some people hate ambient. I understand.

Bask in Geoff Tate's voice and admire Scott Rockenfield's drum kit. Great live performance by all.A great memory is Geoff playing sax in a stairwell at the Disneyland House of Blues. I had a video recorder and camera as I was asked to do something involving the band. Instead, I sat and listened with a since-deceased friend.

Too bad QR turned into a bullshit drama...
STOP TRYING TO OVERSHADOW MY POST, SEAN!I didn't mention Cliff Richard!!!
Geoff Tate and Dennis DeYoung are fruits of the same basket. That's why they sound theatrical. @sean92008
Geoff Tate and Dennis DeYoung both give off that "I'd rather be in musical theater" vibe.
Geoff Tate and Dennis DeYoung are fruits of the same basket. That's why they sound theatrical. @sean92008I got a weird vibe when Geoff and his daughter were around each other. Her then fiance was starting to play guitar for QR. There was a breakup and a band fracture that happened around the same time.
Sorry @ShayP I know you like Geoff. And BTW there's a tipoff right there. Geoff (fruit) VS Jeff! (NON FRUIT)

I wonder what the purpose was to changing his first name from Jeffery to Geoff. @KSM Meh...doesn't matter. I like him as a singer but disrespect him for spitting at his bandmates and being a pussy. He deserved a beatdown for that shit.
Dennis DeYoung should be doing Disney musicals.
You mean Mr. Roboto wasn't a Disney show?
For @KSM
Lynch is killing it. I could barely hear Don, but I took solace in the fact that he followed the ShayP diet plan. ;)
This one will make you happy in the pants area, @ShayP
Even @KSM will get a tingle when it gets to the guitar solo.
I love how George puts up with only so much of Don's yapping, and just starts playing... :D

I went and saw Reina del Cid last night at a small venue in Houston.
@KSM i don’t know when you are getting to Denver but their tour takes them there August 11.
I’ve seen them 4 times. 3 times in Houston and once in DC. Tony Lindgren is really talented on the guitar even if she uses a Jazzmaster for most of the songs. This is an original off their new album.
@ShayP probably would have preferred the band that opened for them last night
Does anybody realize that before Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Dio, that Ronnie James Dio (real last name is Padavona) was in another band called Dio and The Prophets?
Yup.
It is up there with this surprise...
He took 8 years off and his voice got even better.Prick?
Prick!
Prick?
...Because he sings properly. And always has. If you don't grind those vocal gears throughout the years you're pipes will (with proper maintenance and due diligence) never forsake you.
You should know this!
*YourRight. I was in a rush..
@Bart Ell Did you know about this? XYZ singer? @sean92008 see the beautiful Les Paul?

By the way, now that I could pretty much afford any guitar that I wanted (minus something played by Eric Clapton), because money is not an issue, I can't even hold a fork in my hand for more than a couple of minutes or write my name address and telephone number on a form without pain.
Irony? Or am I in hell?
Hell.

I know @ShayP enjoys a good stroke.
Wolfgang Van Halen is still a slob but that fucker can play...

Is this real? :oIn the comments section, there are quite a few references to being so realistic. I'm trusting that it isn't real. The editing is great though.

Good old Foghat.
Oh. I forgot. The best showcase of Chris' work is third video starting at 4:25Hmm. That is pretty nice. Wasn't sure what to expect but I listened all the way through.
And just one more. This is a slow one but I really like the guitar
Pat Thrall, Anton Fig and (a very, very old looking) Blondie Chapman. Star studded recording. Blondie's appearance made me look up the performers. Dude's the voice of my favorite Beach Boys song, Sail On Sailor.
Reminds me of this little gem..

My turn. @Bart Ell
Rob got angry when Rick sang SHE LIKES THE BOYS IN THE BAND!
Sometimes you stumble across a gem you never knew existed.
You obviously didn't watch mtv in 1987 or whenever that came out. They shoved that down their viewers' throats.Well I didn't know that. And so what? I like the song. I like the song now, or then. What DEAD song did he cover? @sean92008 Keep in mind that @PB likes the Dead. Musical argument? :D ?
Or was that VH1?
Him playing with the Grateful Dead gave me hope that he'd die too.

He played keyboards for the Grateful Dead... Immediately after pigpen, maybe... Not sure of that.
At least someone affiliated with the Dead got some Grammies
....and became an oldies act before his second album.
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
You do know the Dead were about the live shows, not the records, right?
I was referring to Hornsby's career. Have I told my Pete Sears story? (J. Garcia connection.)

I think this is a great time for it.Agreed. Let's hear it @sean92008

SEE? We've actually got some musical discussion going on here. I'm a great bringer togetherer!!
Got a bit choked up when they started playing chess. Andy Fletcher, their keyboardist who died, was a chess hustler. A nice little tribute.
Okay, I was actually thinking of this video a couple of days ago when I spent way too much on the presale tix. Like, I've done festivals for the price. :o But there are three bands that I always see when they come to town: The Cure, DM, KMFDM. They're good memories bands and music that I would plan and save to be able to scrape together the cash to see back in the day that I have continued to enjoy throughout the decades.
I too got choked up at this video, @sean92008 . :'(
Billy Idol - "White Wedding"
Hey little sister, who is it you're with?
Hey little sister, what's your vice or wish?
I heard:
Hey little sister, who is it you're with?
Hey little sister, what's your FISA wish?
FISA: the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978.
On a lighter note, Keith Richards is the second ugliest guitarist in music... Martin Gore wins.

Cursed family. He dies because of malpractice. His daughters both die of cancer very young and one granddaughter died young as well. I think it was UCLA who lost the malpractice lawsuit.

The toilet snake I used did not unclog the toilet blockage so I decided to throw it into my backyard. I replaced the toilet and put some beach towels over the used toilet in the backyard. I am going to break the toilet open tomorrow to see what the heck was plugging it up.
Give the manager a raise...
The Kinks and Queen were singles bands to me.
Yikes.

It's going to be hilarious when a bunch of kids who watched this last night ask mom to find the song on YouTube and hear the real lyrics for the first time.
Mom, what does "shooting hot sperm on each others' chest" mean?
I guess this is the place to put reviews of Now and Then. I just heard it on an AM mono radio - the way I would have first heard most Beatles stuff. It was amazing technically. As a song., its a decent late whiny Lennon song. I wish the last Beatles song could have been a rocker with Lennon playing rhythm. Those were the ones I really liked. But that said, the melody to Now and Then is stuck in my head.

Thank you for this gem! Although the kid, Jimmy, was overselling it, I enjoyed it. Holy fuck, he later wrote "Delta Dawn."

Love some Doo Wop every now and then.
Hey Rikki
My understanding is Doo Wop should always be sung on a dicey street corner by some shady guys. I love this song from one of my favorite movies. Y'know what I'm sayin?i=PeozPnHAuX0l0S0Z
When great movie stars think they can sing...
Lyrics updated, Jolene's on notice..YUCK! No thanks.

LOL Ooookay. Will do, will discuss on E44. I almost pissed my pants laughing in 43.
This Jolene must really be something to be able to steal men from Dolly Parton, Beyonce, and Jack White.Hahaha Yeah she sure gets around. Spans many decades too! Might be a vampire... :o
