That was an experimental French delta wing aircraft the Germans captured when France fell in 1940.  The "P" sign on the hanger is probably the logo for the company that built it, it was something like "Payone."  It was destroyed in bombing raid.

Thanks Duke.  Ugly spud, wasn't it?

Lookner/Agenda Free TV on YouTube went live. He was thinking DC-4, must be big.  People in chat were giving him grief for not enough deaths.
Eh, nevermind...

The fire looks to be on the #3 (right inboard) engine.  An educated guess would be when the blast occurred, it took out the cables/pulleys/bellcranks that actuate the wing mounted control surfaces. You'd expect the a/c to yaw into the dead engine(s) and kill the lift on the same side, causing the right wing to stall and the a/c to roll/yaw toward the ground.  Loss of elevator control would have made the a/c unrecoverable.  Will be interesting (and probably gut wrenching) to hear the cockpit voice recorder.

Folks in Savannah are calling the talk radio station saying something has happened to an F22 at the Savannah airport. Maybe an air show there.  Its not a military base.
Merry Christmas

Folks who have seen it say it is just sitting on the runway with no outward sign of damage.
I hope they haven't dropped another H-bomb off the coast Like they did in 1958 and have never found.
Merry Christmas

Possibly a heroic action to avoid hitting a populated area.  Pretty whacked-out touch-and-go exercise.
