corporations kill in mass for profit and money. its ok if you are starving and need to eat.
Again, I am not arguing for or against eating animals. Not the point of this.
However, due to how society has grown and become more urban, as opposed to rural, this has become a necessity. We are no longer a society where most people live in rural areas and have their own farms or land to keep livestock. We buy eggs from the store, chicken, beef, fish. This is the case in much of world now, not just the united states. Now people can choose to purchase things such as "cage free eggs," which I personally do, in an effort to keep the experience not as bad. However, I simply do not have the facilities to raise my own chickens right now. Besides, city ordinances frown upon said activity as well. And that does not even begin to consider having my own milk cow. I certainly can go and hunt deer if i so choose and then freeze the meat for later use. But the vast majority of people do not hunt. And if they did, the deer population would decrease at a dramatic rate to the point of being endangered. Thus you have cattle.
If you want to end the mass slaughter of animals then you may as well hope for 50 to 80 percent of the human population to die off and for humans to completely change how we function as a society. Basically go back to a rural society like we were before the industrial revolution.
Like it or not, there are a butt load of humans on this planet. Either they eat or they die.
Wanted to add that if you throw in reincarnation then you open up another can or worms. Do we come back not only as humans, but also as animals or even plants? Do we come back as cows? If we do, then would that not change our approach to eating beef? Would that force us to find other ways to feed the billions on the planet? Even if we wanted to, could we?
