I was alive and well when the casinos arrived in Atlantic City, but never visited them. We'd go further south to the beach. As a kid my parents had a friend who had a house in Bay Head, I have such lovely memories of that place.
You must do well at the craps tables, you sound as if you know your stuff.
Tony Soprano, that brings up a perfect image of what you are talking about. Did you watch it? When I was around 15 we had a nutty teacher for Italian in HS. He wanted to have lunch with a lady in Little Italy in NY so he created a "field trip" and took the whole class. When the bus arrived he opened the door and said "Be back at 4. Have an Italian lunch" and let us all go completely unsupervised. I wandered around the whole day and I recall seeing some Tony Sopranos hanging around some doorways. None of us had enough money to buy a restaurant lunch, but we had a good time site seeing.
@anniem thank you for all the things you share ;)
Your teacher was crazy. He was lucky. All his students came back by 4! What a story. Great fun for the young to discover NYC.
As for the Tony Sopranos in real life, money follows money-sometimes.
Sometimes, I am a very good craps player. I need motivation to win. Long story short. Mr Fish lost too much money at a craps table. I was so pissed off!. I suggested to Mr Fish to go get more money. I was going to throw the dice! Not only did Mr Fish win back his money but also we both won "more" money.

I love stories of those who win there. I am not part of that sort of story. That is because I only very reluctantly will surrender my money and only do so in a very small tiny amount which does not take more than 10 minutes to lose. I think it takes more time to win.  ;D

Did you ever go across the pedestrian bridge over to Main Street Station? They have a Hall Of Fame for record craps sessions all along the walls of the bridge ... one guy went for like 200 odd rolls!

I never managed to master craps, my dyscalculia kills me with it.

I did win a number of poker tourneys at Billions, they used to give out T-shirts that said you won a tourney there! The coffee shop at Binions was fabulous!
@DynamoHum , a poker player. I should have known. How do you hide your hands? My poker playing friend would wear a long sleeve sweat shirt and hid his shaking hands as the money in the pot increased. I am a failure. I did not visit the Hall of Fame in Vegas.

I have always enjoyed listening to Art Bell as a radio talk show host. It was like sitting around a camp fire listening to camp fire stories but just around a radio.

@damon , so true. In the dark of the night, listening to stories that may give you the goosebumps.

I play the stupid English woman for a few hands and lull them into a false sense of security, dispose of 25% of my chips playing timid then they try and throw me off and I take their chips. Never fails.

Also I hold my cards close to the table while muttering “It’s all right for you chaps, your tits don’t get in the way of seeing your cards”.
Give pees a chance.

I was a bit too optimistic about the Golden Arm Record holder at MSS https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/question/golden-arm-club-craps-wall-fame-california/

Also The Plaza was the home of KDWN - a very geeky pilgrimage of mine while it was still upstairs there :) I do need to get out to Pahrump to go to KNYE.

The legenadry Frontier was host to "The Laydown Lowdon" nightly sports book show on KDWN with the local legend Lee Pete and his able assistant Donny Bader.

https://www.gamingtoday.com/industry/article/25123-Lee_Pete_dies

"We all just loved Lee Pete," said a former waitress from the old Rainbow Lounge, one of Pete’s hangouts when he lived in Las Vegas. "He was so charming with all that silver hair and pleasing personality."

Indeed, Pete was the toast of the town, a radio host who got 10,000 letters a year, who earned an income well into six figures, and who was once described by the sports talk fraternity as a scaled-down answer to Phil Donahue.

Standing about 6-foot-2 and weighing 220 pounds, it was obvious Pete was an ex-football player. During the late 1940s, he was a standout quarterback at the University of Toledo, where he lettered four times and once finished second nationally in total offense to Charley Connerly, the Mississippi All-American who later became an all-star with the New York Giants.

Pete was also a solid college baseball player, and once led the nation in batting.

After graduation, Pete was drafted by the Detroit Lions and traded to the Green Bay Packers. In his first season, he ripped up his knee in an exhibition game and was out for the season. The following year he broke his shoulder, which put an end to his playing career.

With his playing days behind him, Pete bought a saloon from a friend in Toledo. He soon tripled the business, expanded it and bought another one. Later he opened a successful restaurant in his home town.
