I never understood the lyrics to Roger Miller's "Little Green Apples." It does in fact rain in Indianapolis in the summertime. And it does snow in Minneapolis when the winter comes. I mean...c'mon! I just can't read between the lines.
I have (and love) the Sinatra album, Cycles. Lil green apples is one of the songs on that great record. I always take the lyrics for sarcasm. There is another song called By The Time I Get To Phoenix that sounds like a love song but in reality the dude is leaving her sorry ass and she's too stupid to know it even though he tried to tell her many times before
