A lot is changing in China...
They are going through major crackdowns on so many things, it's almost like they're preparing for a holocaust-type of event.
They are cracking down on religion, across-the-board, including Muslims and Christians (supposedly it is inspired by Muslim behaviors in the past few years). The social scoring system and their coordination with Google to basically track everybody doing everything is scary. They are tightening up their financial system as well (Edit: taking assets). And, to that point... My friend has two very, very, very old pieces of pottery. Because her mother is extremely old, my friend has decided to sell the pieces because, once her mother dies, there is a high likelihood that the pottery would disappear. She called an auction house 3 days ago, the next day Chinese government officials were questioning her and threatening to impound them.
One of the pieces is over 250 years old the other is thought to be older.
Any money generated from the sale of those pieces was going to have to stay in China anyway but... It is scary for a Christian woman who is a naturalized United States citizen to have the gestapo come and interrogate you.
And yes, even though she is a Christian, I am still friends with her... 🙄
