Long time Art Bell listener - first time commenter here.
I am a huge Art Bell fan. I listen to him almost every single day, while I work from home (sound engineer).
I live in very rural Ireland. I am not sure what exactly the "legitimate" way to listen to Art Bell past shows is. I am aware it is not in full compliance with legalities to upload episodes on Youtube, but that currently is the most effective way for me to listen. The problem is, when you listen for hours every single day, for years, you very quickly start listening to the same dozen or so classic shows over, and over... and over.
A few years ago while Art was still alive, I remember looking into his website, and seeing forms of subscription to listen to past shows. I can't remember the exact details now, but as far as I remember, it was costing more than my monthly Netflix subscription, except I wasn't interested in any of the other shows apart from Art's, so it seemed like a lot.
Perhaps there are some more current, easier ways to listen to his past shows - from C2C, Dark Matter, MITD etc etc, some I may not currently be aware of? I am very out of the loop now.
Art Bell was a legend of radio to me. He was a huge talent in his field, a pioneer of his own style ... I could go on. I just feel its a shame there are probably 100's, if not thousands of his past shows I still have not heard, and I have listened to all the classic ones more times than I can count.
Is there a big database out there of all his past shows? Is there a way I can access it? If so, will it cost me a monthly subscription?

Otherwise u7 radio and tunein.com are your best bets.

One of the joys of living in the wilderness of rural Ireland here - I have a mind bending 2MB broadband internet connection ;D It tends to download at around 300 - 400 KB/s. Yiiiiikes.
1 TB of Art Bell sounds absolutely amazing. Working this out, it tends to take me about a day for a 1GB download. So that would take approximately 1000 Days. I'm feeling optimistic, so I'm gonna say I might have it in 3 years if I start right now!

Wow, very cool - I am on there right now. Instant new Art Bell! One instant drawback I notice - I am a research hound. I am always pausing and rewinding to look various bits of info up. Can't do that with this. I also can't seem to find a synopsis of the current show playing to see the topic or who the guest being interviewed is... but I am just delighted to be hearing some Art shows I've never heard yet. Awesome.
Thanks so much. I really hope the internet infrastructure improves in this area in the near future - I'd love that 1TB download.

Funny you should say that; as we speak I'm sitting at my soldering station listening to Art Bell as I work. Someone just phoned in to say he is ON the Rockies and wants Art to tell him what line he is supposed to call - Art went with Wildcard!
International Line here, I guess ;D

I don't know how long ago it has been now but U7 radio had a very thorough archive that the Coast to Coast AM owners try to have shut down. I think it was just before that time, the guy running it started to remaster some of these old programs because the varied sources were quite inconsistent.
How it works with this guy, I'm pretty sure, is that he only puts up part of it at any one time probably for Server expense reasons....
I do like TuneIn because it does have the three or four Art Bell only channels and, if one gets boring you can flip to another one.
Also, there's a few musicians and radio type folk here, myself included, so feel free to talk shop.

As a very early owner of the Tascam DA-88, I had the opportunity to consult with people such as Sir George Martin, Thomas Dolby and sound techs for big names. I have this wonderful talent for finding problems, right in the middle of a session...
I hated converting to digital at first then I hated converting to computer. I owned the 4th Mac G4 ever made and even got a little letter of congratulations as I was regular consumer number one. I used Pro Tools with a package provided by Capitol Records. Ultimately, I gave up on Apple as a company and as a computer system after learning of the conditions in their factories. I recommend most semi pro and amateur musicians get a software package called Mixcraft. Really powerful, good service, and very low drain on the processor.
Is name dropping big in the music business over there? 😀. There isn't a week that goes by that I don't hear something. I even knew a lady who told me that she was born in the same hospital as Gerry Rafferty as part of her pick up line to me. Hey, we're all connected somehow.

You’ll find a load of Art Bell streams on TuneIn, there’s at least 4 or 5, but also don’t forget there is a heap of AB shows on YouTube as well, then you can pause to your heart’s content!

I can tell you right now I've listened, relistened, and listened again to every single Art Bell show uploaded to Youtube. I often list the results by 'date added'. Sometimes they are taken down and put right up again. The problem with Youtube is that its always the same few dozen shows added.
Thanks for the suggestions though. I have been enjoying listening to the streams today. Heard a few new shows I hadn't heard before. I wish I could download the 1TB torrent but my connection will not take it. These streaming stations are great though! Thanks!

Last I saw the torrent was less than 70gb. My memory is fading but there is no way it is up to 1tb.

I do have the torrent file ... I wonder if we could pop it onto some form of media and get it to Steve? If we could find a way to make it into a smaller size, I could stick it on a CD or usb stick and mail it to you - I am in the UK so it wouldn’t be too expensive (as long as you aren’t weirded by a stranger having your details etc). I am trustworthy - ask Bart ;)
Failing that torrenting 62 gig would be a pain, but if you leave the puter on every night for a few nights to do it’s thing it is doable, and less pain for you.
