No, Wells would have believed all Lear's lunacy.   This was a youngish sounding guy with a Jewish sounding surname.  I thought he humiliated Lear after Lear claimed during the interview the Israelis had detonated a nuke off the coast of Japan, resulting in the tsunami that took out the Japan nuclear power plant. Come to find out, his radio name was not his real name, and he wasn't Jewish.  I know he never hosted again

Ok....found him, David Ruben, real last name Masters.

No way.  Wow.

I must have read about it rather than hearing it.
Eh, nevermind...

I had that show saved on my C Crane Witness, but the damn thing went tits up on me and I couldn't recover it.  Too bad the Bellgab archive doesn't have a search feature, some interesting commentary after the show.  Still my favorite single C2C show ever.

Hot damn!  Thanks Rainman, I owe you one for finding both the BG link and the actual show.  Btw, there was also discussion on this show in the BG "John Lear" thread.

Lear had the greatest line I ever heard on C2C.  Ruben kept interrupting Lear, peppering him with purposely inane questions to break up his stream of consciousness monologue, and Lear lost it.  He said he was there to tell secrets, not answer questions. Ironically, the second greatest C2C line dealt with Lazar and was uttered by Knapp's esteemed colleague, Jeremy Corbell. Knapp was interviewing Corbell and Lazar to promote Corbell's Lazar documentary.  Someone asked Corbell about the various aspects of Lazar's claims that were clearly lies, to which he replied he didn't care what lies Lazar had told, his story was more important than the truth.

I don't lazar stated any flat out lies. I just don't think he was anywhere near the "expert" he made himself out to be. Statements like "...my time at MIT... were misdirections not flat out lies.

He may have stepped foot on that campus but he tried to convey that he was a graduate, which to my knowledge, he wasn't.

Lies of omission not commission.

There is a lot more out there that bolsters Bob's case. Doesn't seem like any of you have gone any further that a few claims made by the guy back in 90.

Knew you'd be the first! Like I told you, spend a little time on it should you be so inclined to do so. I have. Not doing your fucking homework for you. Lazy cunt.

Lear and Begich. Children of famous people.

Lear had some neat stories. Not as loony of a vibe like McAfee would give off.

I'm often accused of being homophobic but I don't think anyone can blame me with all the provocation I receive. No doubt you're tittering behind your hands, painting your nails and rubbing up against our 'young friends'. You're the reason kerb-stomping is cool again.
