There is a fantastic chance all your soothing music just annoys me.
I find calm in mayhem.

This is about as soothing as I can get. You didn't say anything about vocals or no vocals. I reserve the right to remove this post if I get called a sissy.

All a matter of perspective. If you find calm in mayhem, perhaps links that would make you happy would be like this:

Annie, the accordion and polka music in general are anything BUT soothing. You've completely blown it with that one. I'm sorry, but you leave me no choice..

Misty is always soothing, even when played by a blind man with two saxophones in his mouth. (I want one of those hats.)

"Pipeworks" on KFMA tonight from Cathedral Church of St. John the Devine. Warning tho sometimes the organists go a bit rouge on some songs/hymns which I usually like in their standard playing. But mad skills, keep in mind playing multiple keyboards, stops, and pedals!

This thread just started from the Drama w/o HW thread, spun off of the conversations around the chanting she was playing from her server.

I love this, thanks for posting it!

I am loving almost everything people have posted so far, these are people and groups I don't know about but so far like very much! Thank you all!

Some old favorites of mine, referred to a few days ago on the HW thread. More of different kinds coming soon. Enjoy!

Deva Premal: Gayatri Mantra

Title: Re: Soothing Music
Post by: Aquarius on January 27, 2019, 09:27:29 PM
This is Deva Premal's entire album Mantras for Precarious Times on YouTube. These mantras are purposely repetitive, 108 times each, to change one's consciousness. Not for easy listening, but very effective for calming and soothing.

If you go to the page on YouTube, the mantras are listed and you can look to see what they're for.

One more for now, she has so many really wonderful ones on YouTube, go look for yourself! Seen her live many times, transcendant experiences.

The graphics are not hers, someone set her music to these, but enjoy anyway.

Moola Mantra Meaning: Om (We are calling on the highest energy of all)

And some more of the wonderful Krishna Das live..

The Hanuman (Monkey God) chant)

As always, it starts slow and builds wonderfully.

Maybe not soothing? But inspiring as a live performance... from Miss Saigon, the two original Broadway cast members who sang this duet...

One of my very favorites.

Just trying to give you some variety quickly tonight... more when I have more time. This is a vivid memory for me from both the Broadway show and this movie version, which I saw when I was very young. The gorgeous Something Wonderful from The King and I. Enjoy!

I found Soothing Music this morning. What great music to enjoy. Thank you-- @anniem for this creation, @GravitySucks for the classical piece, @ksm32 for "Bonnie", @Evil Twin Of Zen for a wishing chair, @Jayzelady for some music from New Orleans, @juan for some misty saxophones, @Up All Night for the time travel, @Walks_At_Night -JUNE HUTTON  :-*, and @Aquarius for all the calming and soothing chants.
And @Bart Ell ? What kind of lullaby is that?
I am not an opera fan, with that being said..here is my contribution.

One of my favorite George Winston solo piano albums, Winter. My favorite cut on this is #8, Night, Part III Minstrels, at about 19:15. I don't know why, but this one calls to me with a sense of longing somehow beyond words.

You're very welcome, @TigerLily. I have been in tech hell for two days transferring four windows phones to android and setting up and getting the air modem code so I can use my new little travel laptop later this week. Total hell, nearly finished. This got me through some of it last night, too.  ;) +1

@Aquarius and @TigerLily , I am enjoying listening to the different music selections. @Aquarius , your trip to NYC is almost here.  Sorry to hear about your total hell with setting up your travel laptop.  Bring some warm outfits with you, the cold is going to hit the East Coast on Friday.
Sad story for me about piano music. I grew up with an older brother who is wanted to be a classical music pianist. He practiced the piano for about 4 hours a day for years. I had to be quiet while he practiced his playing the piano. I was told by my Mom that I was lucky since he only practices for 4 hours and not 6.  I learned to dislike piano music.  I dislike piano music to this day. On the plus side I still enjoy classical music. My brother is a music teacher and directors a choir to this day.
+1 for all the music.

This is soothing to me, because I know that there are others that experience loneliness and isolation that I cannot imagine. And so I am comforted with my state in life.
