Guess I'm in the minority.  I find Ep. 3 more entertaining than 1 and 2, but that's just my opinion.
Actually I question myself why I'm watching ST in the first place.  There is an intrigue that is present in all three seasons.  I'll give ya that.

Never saw an episode until I recently signed up for a free Netflix trial.  I can honestly say that after binge watching season one, and starting season two, I have no interest in finishing the series.  I heard so many things good thing about it and my buddies told me I should've been watching since day one.  It just doesn't grab me and I thought maybe it would.  Meh...Maybe it's just me but I don't get why it's so popular.  Oh well.

I loved the lesbian clerk. How it came to be revealed was cute, unique.

The 3rd season wasn't great (yet better than a lot) and I certainly felt that they took the effects to a greater degree kind of like the Harry Potter series where it got more and more graphic. I always think of that as compensating for lack of content and trying to maintain the same intensity of interest.
