You sure you aren't thinking of Whitey Bulger?

Older baseball folk heard stories of Whitey, Billy Martin and Mickey Mantle partying like it was 1999... Back in 1959...

Billy died as a passenger in a drunk driving accident and Mickey died of alcohol abuse issues. I just figured Whitey was long gone too.

Eh, nevermind...

So I'm reading up on Whitey Ford & Babe Ruth and TIL in 2018 President Donald Trump posthumously awarded Babe Ruth the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
as it even in the news? I missed it. :(

It sounds like a nice thing that many people would like.
Of COURSE it was not in the news.

I heard a few Van Halen tunes out shopping and doing errands...  WalMart, groceries, happy ending massage.

🙄🙄🙄

I wonder Sammy and Diamond Dave got along at the funeral

Didn't they tour together more than once?  Of course, money talks.

Eh, nevermind...

Did they?  I'm surprised to hear that.  Isn't touring bad enough when everyone gets along?  One of those deals where everyone takes a separate private jet, and they meet up on stage on show nights?

Sammy has a home around here, and is a pretty friendly guy, at least his public persona, so years ago I heard him on the local rock station a few times.  One of the DJs asked him something about what kind of wine he'd have on hand if David Lee stopped by.  He said  Dave has no class, and wouldn't know the difference, so whatever was cheapest...

RIP

Veteran game show host Tom Kennedy.

Actress Margaret Nolan.

They must have needed special lenses when they filmed Goldfinger. What with Shirley Eaton and Margaret Nolan in the same film the bloody things would have melted.

The fights were manufactured to sell more tickets.

Joe Fucking Morgan.

😭😭😭😭

That arm flap while at the plate was so memorable. Good analyst on TV as well. I even have a player on my baseball video game that does the arm flap too, a definite homage to him...

The news said he died of neuropathy.  My doctor is euphemised my condition with the neuropathy word as well.  Although, that's not what's supposed to kill me 😲

Ahhh, Freddy Lynn, fellow Carlsbad-area resident (and an occasional bump-into at Costco), playing center field if I recall correctly.

I remember Joe Garagiola explaining why he did the arm flap. It was because he wanted to make sure that he had proper height on his back elbow so that he would keep his swing more level.

It is amazing this stupid things you remember from your childhood as you hit the fifties.  Argh.

Don't worry, it gets better. Pretty soon yer not gonna know what you had for lunch. But that 4th grade school pizza? You can taste it.
