About that, around here people staring into their phones just walk out into intersections without even looking. They walk out into the street from in-between parked cars to get to the driver's door. They open the door from a parked position and step out into traffic without looking.
They've been told pedestrians
always have the right of way, and act accordingly. And immediate and continual interest in their phone is paramount. Forget what mom said about looking both ways.
