Aww...  I've been seeing a lot of his old stuff lately, started by some rabbit-holing from here...
Eh, nevermind...

Roy Clark is a true legend. A lot of his playing makes my head spin, but it also reminds me there's  great stuff I haven't figured out yet. I've wanted to slow down some of his stuff and try to figure it out, but that's one of those things I just never get to.

The interwebs are amazing. Thanks for the update. Btw, Sartain was in the movie "Endangered Species" which was about cattle mutilations and, maybe, was inspired by LMH's theories (uncredited?)

Wow.  Didn't know Sartain was on Hee Haw.  He and Gary Busey did a small radio/television segment in the Tulsa area back in the early 70's.  Sad news about Clark.  I got to see him one at the Neewollah Festival in Independence Kansas around 15 years ago or so.  I took a group of people with developmental disabilities (my job at the time) to the parade and the music show later that night.  I remember complaining to my supervisor about the prospect of having to sit through a country music show.  I profusely apologized the following Monday.  Roy and the others put On one hell of a show.  An insanely talented entertainer. RIP.

And Stan the Man Lee...The President of my childhood.  Salute.

Ah, Barbi Benton. Now there was a nice busty girl.  Gotta love the tanlines. No girl would be caught with them now.

Did he also write the original version of Seasons In the Sun?

That was a Belgian guy with similar genre of music, Jacques Romain Georges Brel

and with Glen Campbell even...
=====================================================
'Allo!
Dating my self at the Glenn"Wrecking Crew"(q.V.)Campbell,re:Roy clarke now gone.
Had an flash-back,Campbell was behind the"Pre-Fab Four",ie,Monkees...
Interesting event in early seventies,on the Tonight with Johnny Carson show..I didn't tape...Roy and Glenn both discussing their lean years as roomies in Nashville.
At this point,Glenn sat in Clarke's lap, joking how they only had one guitar.
The two both played on an single instrument, and they played the real lyrics to"Day Dream Believer":
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"If i had the wings
Of an blu-bird as she sings
That five o'clock alarm would never ring
So wake up sleepy Gene
And tell me is there any scene
For an Day-Dream Believer
And an old closet queen
Old Closet Queen"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After this,Johnny Carson was speechless!
He gulped visibly and went on,while there was scattered,un-certain applause from the alleged studio audience.
The two really stopped the show!!
Ah,those were the days of semi-live television...
Any one out there remember this incident??
"N_B_B"
i will make my krills look like random accidents or ssuicides, impulsive homicides, and will not take credits in the newspapers or on tee-vee....there will be more...

Great to see ya, man. I was still a tyke but I remember some of those shows.  Smothers Bros. and The Johnny Cash show had some great improv stuff like that.

Ah, I was close.  Those sort of songs were sure popular back then but they are sort of depressing.
