Bart, I have a 1/2 inch sliver in the palm of my hand. It's deep but I can still see it through the skin, I can't get at it with a pin or needle so I'm just stuck with it for a few days. Hurts like hell and I want my bubba.

X-Acto knife.  Take your time with short strokes.  Don't go deep initially.  The skin will toughen naturally, especially with the work you do.  After a few tries you will cut through to it enough to extract it.  Blood loss is minimal and there is virtually no pain.

I'm a floor layer so I'm well stocked in X-acto's and such. Doesn't hurt anymore, think the hot tub did something to the palm skin. Hmm, that doesn't sound good.

Well stocked in multi tools as well. I could just run my entire hand through my big table saw.  You guys are making me want to start a power tool thread. I got cordless Dewalt brad nailers and all kinds o' goodies.

Hot tub was great idea.  Softening the area may be allowing it to be re-absorbed through the interior.  Nothing wrong with that, if the body is inclining that way.  So I would continue very warm hand soaks if necessary.  Like, YOU do the dishes, lol.
