Nice. As a professional driver which State has the worst highways? I always thought LA was bad but I saw some survey that said Washington, D.C. (that is not a State but the internet "news" doesn't fact check or have editors) and another said RI. Both small places so I don't really count them when we are talking highways.

I've never been to California so I have no educated opinion.    A few notes:
* Illinois and Michigan are tied for total bad roads.
* D.C. sucks more for the hateful drivers than the bad roads. Tip: take I-95 straight through (most big trucks are using the 495 beltway to go around).
* Delaware and Massachusetts are okay if you know what times to drive.
* Rhode Island and Connecticut just aren't designed for 53 foot trailers.
* New Jersey is a functional madhouse and you can learn to pattern your driving accordingly.
* Big trucks should not be allowed in New York City. Plain and Simple.
* The cities in North Carolina suffer due to poor planning - not bad roads.
* The east coast of Florida is hectic while the west coast is much more relaxed.
* Memphis has the worst roads. Period.

Other than that, you just have to learn to drive the cities on an individual basis.

Thanks. I was talking Louisiana btw, though LA is bad but from what I seen it was more the traffic. I, seriously, made it through New Mexico faster than I made it across L.A. once. Yes, I was driving through Illinois at it was bad. I'm was thinking more of actual physical surface conditions and design; not as much traffic, driver personalities, etc. E. Washington has some bad roads (I suspect weather etc) and almost suicidal ways to cross highways. Instead of over or under pass you "gun it" into a small middle lane and then stop, based on traffic, and then "gun it" to accelerate into traffic pattern.

Ahhh, I forgot Louisiana! Yes, weathered roads and God awful city planning. I love the people so I suppose that I overlooked it. Most times, I'll refuse loads to New Orleans because the roads just aren't designed for big trucks and the places you deliver to are just as thoughtless in layout. Baton Rouge isn't much better.

Yeah folks are great but lots of corruption and crappy roads. And I think suspect construction (somebody's cousin gets the contract, budget misallocated, taxation system broken, etc.)

Agreed. Plus, it's below sea level and logic dictates that this is wrong! 😀
