Speaking of coats - I LOVE the peacoat. I am lucky enough to have inherited my father-in-laws Navy Peacoat (double breasted dark blue). It is awesome. Lucky for me he was a skinny dude and I'm tall ranch stock so it actually fits surprisingly well. Honestly though it is so wonderful I would probably wear it no matter what and my Mom always told me I could make a gunny sack look good and I choose to believe her! The coat weighs a ton but it does everything a short-length winter coat should do. I'm kinda old-school so I think everyone needs to start out with a surplus store wool peacoat in either gray or blue but they make some pretty great takes on it:

Hi @tootsie_wootsy  and @XArea51 . I've enjoyed looking at all the stylin' threads here. Wish I could participate but having always lived in LA or San Diego, high fashion for me is wearing my glittery flip flops
