"Alex Trebek was our Art Bell, Mike gets it."
Oh thank god.
He was probably the best of the guest hosts, who were each terrible in their own way.
I used to watch Jeopardy once in awhile if I was home at 7 and not doing anything, and I liked Alex in tiny doses. Once in awhile when it came up, people would tell me they didn't like Alex, and I was puzzled by this - until I started recording TV shows and would then watch Jeopardy every day.
I'm sorry but seeing him every day Alex Trebeck was incredibly irritating. He wasn't all that either. They showed a few episodes from decades earlier, years before I watched, and seeing that dweeby narcissistic TV game show host guy straight out of central casting, it all made sense - Alex was just an older version of that. Ugh.
Having said all that, the guest hosts were bad, starting with Ken Jennings. All those weeks he did, his smug condescending personality really shone through. I think they thought he'd be permanent host until they saw that.
I really resented all the Democrat fake news people they had on as hosts. They routinely attack half the country, and Jeopardy, Inc thinks it's a smart move to have them represent the show?
Mike Richards wasn't great, but clearly their recruiting team isn't capable of finding anyone better.
