From my understanding the owners just wanted the land but would have build their own arena, Arizona really doesn't care about hockey

That should have been a slam dunk if the owners were handling improvements and building. It's not like there's mineral rights going to be exploited. Other than the possibility of an uneducated voter base, are the team owners greasy?

Funny, their legacy franchise goes back to the WHA (Winnipeg Jets). The San Diego Mariners were part of that league.

Me neither, If you would fire one of the two you would think the Coach is gone and the GM stays, but I actually would think the underachieving Leafs needed a total clean up in coach and GM. The team under-performed again and this is his fourth season

New GM keeps the coach that is there so he can use him as the first sacrifice when Leafs do Leaf things next season.
