Ramona voiced the old CBC "best of" intros, didn't she? I normally don't pay that much attention as I do other things while listening...

10-28-96, for example. The first Fr. Malachi Martin interview on U7.
Eh, nevermind...

The tape was made off of a replay on a Nashville radio station, if you have numerous sources. U7's version is slightly hot and distorted.
Eh, nevermind...

I have three versions of said broadcast amongst my vast library. No internet stream required. Yes, I'm bragging. I may or may not have the particular show you refer to, Shawn.

I remember a few years back and likely before Art died, the guy that had U7 did some audio leveling and basic remastering of his collection, but I was under the impression that he was just using the collection everybody has.

Did I mention that Art did a promo stinger for U7?

Eh, nevermind...

There have been various collections around the net over the years. Between 2010 and 2014 it was rather easy to amass a somewhat hefty collection - those were the fruitful years.  A few members of CoastGab (pre bellgab) had them up in 2011-2012 but they had to invite you and assign a password and username to you in order to access their stuff. And before that there was WinMX in the mid 2000's that had a few hundred individual shows from various uploaders.

I did not know that Art did that for U7..

4AM this morning and listening to classic Art with nothing but the computer screen to light things. Pitch black outside while I-25 down below is lightly peppered with late night travelers. Best time for classic coast.

Guest - Darrel Sims. He's angry at the aliens. The space ones, not the Biden aliens at the southern border.

Art's voice is probably listened to by thousands of people every day, still.

I listen to "Art Bell Tape Vaults" via the Apple Podcast app, easy access. Quality is very good. I can set up a podcast to follow the one currently on deck (sees me through the night until I fall asleep), and it holds my place even when I close the app.

At about 1 a.m. most nights, when Art's show aired on the East Coast, I line up my podcasts, and forget it's 2023. I'm truly "Somewhere in Time." The interviews with virus experts seem so current, other topics are timeless. I swear I almost called in the other night.... I prefer shows prior to 2006, before Ramona passed, when Art was the still the man we knew and loved....

I still shed tears for Art, get really down at times, remembering when he'd post fun comments to us on the Fantastic Forum, mention us when he signed off, and I treasure the handful of his email replies I have stored away.

Art, if you can hear me, some days the emptiness is as big as Mel's Hole. But we carry on.

Waiting for Art to fulfill his promise to contact us from wherever he is....
