Movies That Made You Cry - Whaaa
« on: January 10, 2020, 11:45:27 AM »
:'(  Hopefully I won't be left hanging on this one :P

Ok, maybe you didn't "cry' but your eyes got red, throat got tight but you managed to keep yourself together. Orrr perhaps you had a full out crybaby session and you didn't care who knew. Did you ever feel silly afterwards? It's an odd feeling to cry at a movie or even at home from a film.
My dad took me to see the 1980 John Hurt version of the Elephant Man and we couldn't get home fast enough so I could let it out. Who takes an 8 or 9 yr old to that movie. They were so cruel to John Merrick.

This ending scene from 1995 The Crossing Guard did get to me when I originally saw it because I can personally relate to it. Once was enough for this movie - can't take it.  The Dad (Jack Nicholson) has just chased down the drunk driver who has been released from prison (David Morse) only to find he has been led to his daughters grave. A lot has happened leading up to this point. Sean Penn makes some dark movies :-\

Forbidden Planet when the monster was trying to break through all the lasers and blasters to get to the space ship.  I was five and terrified.

The first movie I can remember really crying over was ET. I believe I cried through the whole second half. Literally sobbed out loud. I think even my popcorn was extra salty from the tears. Luckily it was family movie night at home

To this day I have to be really careful about seeing movies with animals* in them. Those can leave me with PTSD

*Unless they are Filthy Animals. Then I cheer when they get their comeuppance

Yes, ET for sure!
There was a little girl,
            Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
            When she was good,
            She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

ET and Charlotte's Web (The original).  :'(  I re-watched that Charlotte's Web many years later with my then girlfriend's younger siblings.  I was a little set back that I'd get teary eyed 20 years after seeing it the first time.

Oh, I forgot.  Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey made me cry a little.

Saving Private Ryan - the opening scene where the elderly Ryan visits Captain Miller's grave.  Walks_At_Night Sr. was there on June 6th, 1944.

I'll never really know all that he went through in the war.  Not really..............

I can't fucking believe this! I started this thread off perfectly and the majority of you tell me about childhood movies that scared you and made you cry!? Of course you cried - you were a bunch of little Pussies! I'm talkin' bout films you've seen as an adult!!! Stuff that matters! Give me content!!
I gave real content and almost a little insight that almost teared me up as I posted it!!  Bastards!

ET doesn't count! @TigerLily @PolkaDot You IDiots!!

Thank you @Walks_At_Night & @GravitySucks for your admissions of temporary weakness as grown ass adults. Let us weep together.

BTW  Walks (WAN) I still feel bad for forcing you to threaten to beat me up a few months ago. Wasn't my best moment. Go Wings!

Sorry. @KSM  I gave it a lot of thought (I really did) and I truly cannot recall seeing any movie in my adult years that made me cry.  Probably because I'm dead inside.
