Thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers during these last few days of Hurricane hell! Thankfully, we are all safe and well. Our state had a lot of damage that really was expected to be worse, so all in all, we and Texas were fortunate. Although, we did end up with a casino riverboat thrown and now wedged under the Interstate 10 bridge. 😬

I don't know exactly when it started but all the sudden (last two months) I cannot crack an egg with out getting a few tiny fragments of shell in there. There is NOTHING worse than enjoying your beautifully whipped nice n creamy scrambled eggs and then getting a CRUNCH :o  We get our eggs in from a local farm so I thought it was the way they feed their birds but when I bought a dozen from the store I had the same result - CRUNCH. I'm trying various edges to crack on from bowls, pans, even ramekins and nothing helps. Also, somehow the yolk is almost always getting punctured when I release the contents from the shell to the whatever I'm putting it in but that's a another story.

@ShayP What's the deal, man?

I'm ready to give up and end it all. I don't want to live in a world that won't allow me two nicely cracked eggs daily.

I hear ya! Eggs also seem to be harder to peel when they are hard boiled now. That's why I sleep in late and don't have breakfast until after I've had a coffee first. Yes it's true, I have poultry issues. Wow, great to finally get that out!
Enjoying the continuing journey of discovering infinite diversity...

If you would crack them on a flat surface as I showed you a year or so ago, you wouldn’t have this proble.
Merry Christmas

Always there to stick the dagger in just a little further..  you're consistent, I'll give you that!

ANNND @juan, aren't YOU the guy that thinks adding Velveeta to an omelette in place of actual CHEESE is socially acceptable?  I can find the quote if you need a refresher ;D

You mean this one?

I don’t eat omelettes because only two eggs are a waste of time, and I don’t eat cheese. Especially Velveeta.

You should have known me when I could remember absolutely everything.  I really pissed off people then.
Merry Christmas

@KSM32  Have you ever tried picking the fragments out of the eggs after you crack them and before you scramble them? ;D  @juan has the right idea by cracking them on a flat surface.  Then just spread the shell open with your thumbs.  I'm quite certain you know how to spread something with your thumbs.  ;)

@ShayP

I keep a pair of tweezers in the kitchen now for just this purpose. Can provide pictures. Yes I CAN spread things very well with my thumbs, hips, tongue, cock, dink, prick, hog (Peace Hog) and nose. I'm THAT, good.

I'll try the countertop move tomorrow morning.

The great Jacques Pepin shows you how to do it - he’s making poached eggs.

Merry Christmas
