They already get everything they could possibly want, so why go do the neighbors chores for a few bucks.
There were some good kids in our areas up north that didn't want to stay in the house all day pissing around that wanted to actually earn some cash for actual work. Although.. some of them were quite pricey. My front walkway in town was 22 long by 3 ft, and one kid wanted $20 to shovel 4"s of fluffy lightweight snow. That kid knew enough to show up early on days when the snow was going to melt within hours. My wife thought he was funny in all this and did humor him a few times. He knew we were on to him but somehow we let him bilk us a few times. He was a real charmer.
Gonna be very wealthy someday, or at least own a used car dealership.
We turned on him when he showed up one Halloween night at like 9pm to trick or treat without a costume. And again, 9PM? Fuck off ya little shit.
