This is a classic example of a pyromaniac car maker. (Kia and Hyundai are joined at the hip.)
They have many years of production where the engine was a fire risk, engine fires are still a risk even after the recall mandated repairs are completed.
I understand that people don't necessarily research their cars very much, are attracted by features, aesthetics or because they can buy them cheap, but it is something really important.
This company has made a series of very poorly made cars after a much better debut decades ago, they went cheap and they went poorly engineered. A simple $20 unit was lacking in many of their cars, compounded with an ignition override that took a USB-A connector, if I recall correctly, to start the car. The effect was that a lot of people had their cars stolen and damaged without the benefit of comprehensive coverage.
