Yes, here is California we understand insects, fish, birds, mammals and other animals are sometimes born in bodies that don't match their true species. That is compounded when they are misidentified by naturalists and veterinarians at birth. We are careful to not mis-speciate individual animals, and offer them counseling, hormone suppressing medication, and even corrective surgery.
