Someone should drain it and see what's at the bottom.

I would like to visit Crater Lake.

Picture this.  Mt. Mazama had an elevation of 12,000 feet.  About 7700 years ago a volcanic explosion blew 4000 feet off the top.  The column of ash was 30 miles high, with pumice falling to the east and north over numerous states and well into Canada - up to 20 feet fell in the area around the base of the mountain, not to mention lava flow, and as much as a foot of this crushed volcanic rock fell and covered the ground as far as 70 miles away.

There were Native American Indians living in the area at the time.  It must have been absolutely terrifying.

If you like lava flow, lava tubes, and so on, there is a nearby National Monument on the California side of the border called Lava Beds National Monument.

The surface is mostly dry and deserty, with hundreds of lava tubes and formations.  The most interesting thing to me was it contains Captain Jack's hideout, where a small band of Indians were surrounded by the US calvary but held them off for months before slipping past them one night and escaping.
