Fascinating, PB!

I second that!

From yesterday's SF Chronicle:

''... The Negro Leaguers played with a flair and exuberance... The greater baseball world got a glimpse of Negro Leagues style when a young Willie Mays, who played briefly for the Birmingham Black Barons, rocked the major leagues with his basket catches, flying cap and joyful style.

... The Negro Leaguers would bring down the house in pregame warm-ups with their phantom infield drill, dazzling plays made with a pretend ball.''

I saw a short interview with Mays awhile back - he's a local guy here and comes out to the ballpark quite a bit - he said he wore his cap a bit loose so that when he was chasing a well hit fly ball it would fly off his head as he ran, making the catch seem more difficult and exciting that it would appear otherwise.

I've heard mention of the phantom ball routine during infield warmups, that must have been fantastic.  Some of this, the barnstorming, the flashy play, reminds me a bit of the Globetrotters.

Depends on the candy.  Is it chocolate?

Dear Dor,
What an interesting question.  Does he offer you the candy because you are thin, and he thinks you can handle it?  Does he offer it because you’re a fatty, and he thinks it’s the way to your heart?  Or does he offer it because it’s reject candy that his brother-in-law picks up at work, and nobody in his family will eat the stuff?  At any rate, you’re not getting anything else out of this cheapskate, so you might as well take it.
Merry Christmas

Yes, you can accept the candy. He may have other intentions though. Watch him! Is there a cot in his office or in the back somewhere?

No.  He wont let you smell it first.  Could smell like his balls or ass, so just say no.

If it makes you uncomfortable decline the gift.
There was a little girl,
            Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
            When she was good,
            She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

No, I don't think your mother is un-
fair to you.  It is a (blank) thing that
she makes you study in the afternoon.
At night you are tired and need (blank)
and (blank).  Try to think of yourself
(blank) years from now and you will re-
alize that you cannot be too well (blank)
to be interesting and to have
(blank) in life.
You are too young to have boy
friends, and I should say that your
girl friend is too.  I do not believe,
however that you should have to give
up her friendship because of it.  Girls
usually begin to think of boys when
they are (blank).  They should not,
however, take an unwholesome inter-
est in them and neglect their studies
as a result.

Ten points for every correctly filled in blank.
