I'll believe it when I see it.  Hard to believe something like this could be approved in government controlled entirely by the Democrats.

Perfect for long range SAR into the depths of the Pacific and Indian oceans where choppers do not have the range. Plus dropping guys and equipment off on little atolls.

There is gonna be another war Duke.

What is going on in this world @Walks_At_Night  :o

Analyzing the ROC's response I guess @FISH   Seeing what they can learn and maybe even trigger an incident.  They can't be too worried about the ROC's submarines. They only have four and two of those are former US Navy boats built during World War Two. Nothing wrong with diesel-electric boats but at almost 80 years old I am sure the crews worry aout ever surfacing again once they pop under.

A good read.
Meanwhile the People’s Republic of China is building the world’s largest submarine factory, a facility to build four subs at a time.6 Russia has built 13 submarines in the past decade.

Model for testing I'd guess.

I would bet that's not a real a/c, or even a model representing a real or developmental a/c.  I think it's calibration shape used for radar cross section testing, or "pole cat" as the RCS guys call them.  If this was an actual classified a/c, there's no way it would have been that accessible.

Some dim outfit makes the floats.

I wondered about that as well.  Going back almost a hundred years, floats for US military floatplanes were made by a company called EDO. They were based in NY, near various east coast aircraft manufacturers (Grumman, Martin, Vought, Curtis, etc.) that built seaplanes.  They continued making floats after the military got out of the seaplane business, but eventually got swallowed up in the aerospace industry mergers post Cold War.  When I first saw that article  a few weeks ago, I tried to find out if, under new ownership, they were still in the float business.  I had no luck.

There are a handful of float manufacturers in the US, but they are primarily involved in light/civil aviation.  Lockheed, as a company, has no experience in the design, manufacture, and test of floats, so I would guess they would try to form at least an associate with some company with that experience.

Dude went in like a Kamikaze.  Wonder if the pilot vapor locked and was dead before he hit the ground?
