Stumbled across some guy reviewing allegations that an astronaut went cracker dog and started sabotaging the ISS in effort to get sent home early. If even 10% of it is true - pretty wild stuff. Stopped bathing to crank up the funk, messed up the mechanical arm, set a bag of tools adrift in during an EVA, kept busting the toilet until it wouldn't work anymore. Apparently the ISS was kept fastidiously clean because once a bad odor is created it is there forever. After the toilet went down the crew had to resort to diapers and now the joint will smell like poo ever more. Then expirements that had gone on continously for years were sabotaged.

Urm. NVM. The take on the schizoid astronaut was interesting - I hadn't heard anything like that before and I can imagine mental health is a big concern for people stuck up there for a year or more. Then the host started going on about Alex Jones being a tool of Jews or whatever. :-[

I listened to about 3 minutes of it, the "host" sounded drunk as a skunk.

Nobody who wants to leave has to do that stupid shit. And nobody wants to leave. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that they have been working and training for spanning years. 100% horseshit.

This was actually a blind on CDAN many moons ago. The take back then was the Americans kept fiddling with theit toilet until it broke. She wanted it one way while the others not so. They begged but the Russians refused them the use of their working facility. Things became intolerable for the Americans with dirty diapers and droplets floating everywhere. That's when the drilling started, presumably.

Good thread.
Being that I don't watch a lot of TV, I almost always have talk radio on. At the moment, here at work, Stern show from May 7, 2009. It'll be over in about an hour and then I'll switch to an old Art show or maybe music. Hard stuff.

Like DPS said, probably B.S. but a good yarn the first time you hear it. Whomever drilled the hole was pretty awful at it or perhaps was floating around in zero G. Look at that drill chatter. Sad.

I know what's worse. A hole in a space ship is nothing compared to a coil tap hole in a vintage Les Paul. @KSM might agree that the Les Paul hole is more egregious. He might surprise me though, Strat wanks sometimes justify destroying vintage shit to sound like Dave Gilmour did for two weeks in 1973.

An old open lines classic from 03-25-96. Dipping into politics here and there, but gay marriage seems to be the main topic. The thing with the Freemen in Montana was just beginning to heat up. So far it's a fairly hardline conservative caller base in this particular show and they're letting themselves be heard. About 1/3 in now and I expect that Charlie will make his voice known at some point. Art trying to ride the fence on the issue while slipping a few times to the right. How times have changed..
Sheesh, 1996 and the heated political open lines shows that it brought us. Bob Dole, Pat Buchanon, Clinton and a particular brand of cigars..

Lauren Patten looks like Anne Frank but probably does not sound like her.
Bonus fact: There is a video on YouTube of Alanis getting a little comfortable with The Bart at Woodstock 99. It was not during her set, she wanted to check out some friends that were playing on the Saturday, too.

I saw my reddened handprint on her right cheek...
😁
An old classmate of mine, Tammy, works in costume and makeup for movies and television. She mentioned that hiding tattoos has ended up taking more time than anything else they do. It has increased chair time but productions are still hiring at a lower rate if there are no prosthetics involved. When there's extras or people in the background, they just use body stockings...
Who knows, maybe the makeup union will have a strike.

About 400,000 78-rpm records
https://archive.org/details/georgeblood?&sort=-week&page=2
Techmoan on YouTube has gone into 78 RPM records on a few occasions. Finding a player that actually plays at the correct speed is one of the challenges. Finding a monophonic cartridge with the larger stylus doesn't seem to be as difficult. I guess one of the things that creates the problem of 78 is that a stereophonic sensor system picks up more noise than if it were monophonic. I don't know if that's because there's isolation between the noises or what.
The guy played some of his family's old 78s... He also played a really old Elvis Presley record. Elvis on a 78 sounds really fucking good.
Parlogram Records (or is it Parlogram) has also dived into 78 RPM rock and roll records.

Too bad there isn't a Hot Wheels in close proximity to take the extreme focus off of the main problem so that peripheral problems might come into view.
Maybe it's time to call Hillbilly Jim to talk about choking out some cute Asian girl.

I'm listening to the Wednesday morning edition of Louder with Crowder... One of his topics is how the UN has just made sex with minors acceptable, I guess they'll be encouraging the member countries to accept this behavior as well... Unlike Sean Hannity, when Crowder brings something up he has documentation linked on his website. He likes to say he brings receipts.

Last night Curtis Sliwa got pissed off by a recent rating of disco songs that had a Rolling Stones song at #5. To get even, he played two hours of disco. He talked over some of them about his going to discos in NYC and New Jersey. It was a hoot. I was never a disco hater because after a half decade of guitar and synthesizer bands, I was glad to see horn players get gigs again.
One of his favorites

I'm watching this great series on Prime called "Power". We watched the second to last episode of the first season tonight. Very intense. And they played this song at the ending of the show. I think this shall be my personal anthem for awhile
You gotta get into the lyrics, too
Just a Girl / No Doubt
Take this pink ribbon off my eyes
I'm exposed and it's no big surprise
Don't you think I know exactly where I stand?
This world is forcing me to hold your hand
'Cause I'm just a girl, oh, little old me
Well, don't let me out of your sight
Oh, I'm just a girl, all pretty and petite
So don't let me have any rights
Oh, I've had it up to here
The moment that I step outside
So many reasons for me to run and hide
I can't do the little things I hold so dear
'Cause it's all those little things that I fear
'Cause I'm just a girl, I'd rather not be
'Cause they won't let me drive late at night
Oh, I'm just a girl, guess I'm some kind of freak
'Cause they all sit and stare with their eyes
Oh, I'm just a girl, take a good look at me
Just your typical prototype
Oh, I've had it up to here
Oh, am I making myself clear?
I'm just a girl
I'm just a girl in the world
That's all that you'll let me be
Oh, I'm just a girl, living in captivity
Your rule of thumb makes me worrisome
Oh, I'm just a girl, what's my destiny?
What I've succumbed to is making me numb
Oh, I'm just a girl, my apologies
What I've become is so burdensome
Oh, I'm just a girl, lucky me
Twiddle-dum, there's no comparison
Oh, I've had it up to
Oh, I've had it up to
Oh, I've had it up to here

Isn't that a tad harsh? I've had you listening to Waylon songs in the past. Unless you lied, you liked! You can't broadbrush country music. Nowadays it is awful, peppered with backwards ballcaps, striper polls, and monster truck type lyrics. But older stuff is the original animal. Authentic.

I was on the road before 4:00 a.m. I tried to listen to C2C.
That quickly got boring so I went to the music stations on the radio. That was even worse! A bunch of crap and, funny enough, one iHeart station had a promo that said "who knows maybe you'll hear some Bon Jovi." No Doubt (don't speak) started to play. I switched channels and Bon Jovi is playing on another iHeart station. 91x here in San Diego is independent and they were playing Psych Furs. When that song was done, I go to the station that was playing Bon Jovi and, they were playing No Doubt's don't speak.
Normally, I only keep six stations in my memory and I expanded it with my new car thinking that I will have some music selections pre-programmed in... I'm back to six stations. 5 AM and 1 FM sports talk after this morning's experience.

Where are you going before 4am? I would have stuck it out with Coast rather than sports, bon jovi, or no doubt. In fact, if I were in the passenger seat I would have changed the channel back and then pushed your hand away when you tried to change it back.
So there.

I was driving a kid to the airport. Had to be really early because the flight had a lot of demand (the airline sent numerous emails offering financial incentives to take a later flight). So physically checking in early was one way to prevent getting bumped.
I am contemplating putting shit (music and Art Bell) on my phone. I wish this stupid car had either a CD player or second USB input for the head unit.
Argh.

The reason I'm here is that there's a little article about dogs having favorite songs. I found that my German Shepherd from about 40 years ago liked the Beach Boys. He was super smart and was treated like a human. One day I was learning the piano to Sail On Sailor and he recognized it. It was really a cool moment.

Just finished this and found it interesting. The premises is that Boxing is the only sport where participants from the past would crush those from the modern era. So a modern day big man like Tyson Fury gets demolished by Joe Louis. The arguments are interesting and seemed plausible, the old timers also have an ace in the hole that wasn't mentioned. Testosterone levels.

That's interesting, I will give it a listen when I have a moment. Genuinely tough, hard people often don't strike you as all that intimidating at first sight until you mess with them. Marciano used to basically just keep on going until the other guy went down, Joe Frazier was the same, and they weren't all that big physically. Foreman looked like the most unbeatable badass on the planet until Ali found a way to beat him. I think there's a sort of mongrel fighting strain in some people that just makes them much harder to beat than other people, it doesn't really matter that they aren't 6'5'' and 300 pounds of muscle.

I don't think you will find it a waste of time, even if you disagree with the thesis.
BTW - any updates on Jackson's remake of The Dam Buster's? That's been like a twenty year saga at this point. Usually, if the original movie is good, I am not a fan of remakes. Best, just to leave it alone. However, Hugh Laurie would make a fine Barnes Wallis and modern special effects could make it worth a watch.

The last time they even mentioned the Dambusters it was to have a go at the BBC, so I'm not going to bet much on it happening any time soon.
Carnera reminds me a bit of that guy Nikolai Valuev, who was absolutely enormous and won a few fights but didn't really dominate in the way you thought he might given his size. As I recall, the Brown Bomber went on far too long and ended up losing fights to people who he would have beaten easily enough in his prime. They sound like an interesting listen.

I don't think they are that well-known in America, unlike The Police, who were another three-piece around the same time and more commercial. They are just a bit too English and Paul Weller doesn't even try to mimic an American accent like Robert Plant or Mick Jagger. Weller always wrote great lyrics - you can hear that in other stuff like Eton Rifles and That's Entertainment and many others. They're well worth diving into if you want to listen to something different.

I love three-piece bands. Was in one for 17 years. The drummer of that band was right into that album and made no bones about it, and I eventually warmed up to it as well. How a metal drummer in a central BC Canadian town had that in his arsenal is baffling. I think he had a secret passion for relatively unheard-of Brit music.

Dave Grohl copped a bunch of disco for Nirvana. I think it's cool.
A super group that I would love to hear is Paul Weller, the guy from the Plimsoles (sp?) and Clem Burke from Blondie. Those dudes are all on the same page but in different chapters.
I saw Clem Burke drumming for the Plimsoles and he shouted numerous times "Keith Moon is dead!"

I have a free trial of Sirius XM and I haven't used it for 2 months, I rarely listen to it when I've had access to it in the past. So I tune into the 1960s Channel and I'm listening to a bunch of stuff that just bothers the fuck out of me and on comes secret agent man. What the fuck? Who's fucking clapping on that song? Was it drinking or an innate amount of whiteness? To say they couldn't keep a beat is being too kind and generous. Since I'm driving while riding this, there may be many errors. I shouldn't say writing this, I'm using voice recognition. Still, what the fuck?

Hannoty's intro is beyond lame. It's easy to tune him out just based on his "new" intro. Same for Bongino.
How many intro songs have a groove nowadays? How many are worth listening to?

I have been on a Triumph the Insult Comic Dog kick lately. Even back when my kids were little, I would use the line "...for you to poop on" with the accent and all to entertain the kids during diaper changes.
I tear up frequently with the deep and painful laughter. This routine needs a little knowledge due to the sometimes obscure references, but this is hopefully entertaining if you take a listen.

I realized tonight that I have not knowingly listened to anything by Taylor Swift since some TV awards show about 10-years ago. She was paired with Stevie Nicks. When it came Taylor’s time so sing, she showed such an unfamiliarity with pitch that Stevie stopped and just glared at her.
So I listened to the first song of hers that popped up on youtube.
i=IAOSB5XvetjDhMCN
As this is not really singing, I heard nothing that indicates she’s any closer to pitch than she is to former boyfriends. Slickly produced, well mixed, tightly played, though. What you’d expect from a major studio.

Pretty awful. Although they did rescue over 30 guys from the Oklahoma. Stuff of nightmares though. Most of those sunken battleships were refloated, cleaned up, modernized and returned to service well before the wars end. The guys involved in those efforts were unbelievable. Imagine all the muck, human remains, oil and rubbish.....

Couple of years back the Bon Homme Richard had a bad fire while docked - probably through arson [the dude that was accused was acquitted]. The estimated time to repair the ship was 7 years so it was broken for razor blades. Our Father's and Grandfather's could get shit done when the chips were down.

Wow. Warning after warning the fucker pays no heed to the locals and leads on with the poor boys fate in his hands. "Stubbornness" is a very kind word, but all in all I guess that's part of what it was. Can't help but think that if I were one of the horrified locals that I would have intervened in such a way that would have changed things rather than eventually look the other way and hope for the best.
Damn that was frustrating.

Keep hearing about these MH Flight 370 orbs and a portal gobbling it up. Time to snick my nose into it I guess:

Any one know what the deal is with the disappearing Malaysian Airliner Orb Dude?
He claims that the plane got on fire due to lithium batteries in the cargo hold [plausible], it turned back towards Penang, MY for an emergency landing [plausible], it asked the Malaysian military for help, which subsequently buried this fact [dubious], the plane flew past Penang out to sea for like 45 minutes while burning up [really dubious], the US Airforce snooped in on the communications and then tried to save the plane with some sort of Lockheed-Martin Portal [beyond bizarre] but the plane went off into never never land. He's got three benefactors that have put up $150,000 to anyone that can prove that the following clip is faked:

He does like hours of streams just about everynight and pulls in some cash but it hardly seems worth it.

Orbie was on Danny Jones's stream. Danny started off all lovey dovey and then ripped into Orbie pretty good. Had an effects dude waiting in the wings to deboonk the orb video but not well enough to claim the prize.

Within 7 seconds he refers to Quayle as "legendary" in a positive way. I'm out.
That doesn't tell me anything I haven't already known for 20 years.

Watch LISTEN to this!
This guy was actually for real. I was a Sunday school - church boy growing up and this guy would have given me the giggles so bad that my mom would have slapped the shit outta me every Sunday during the service.

Some methed out Mother made her daughters drink bleach "milkshakes" to ward off demons. Eventually the 4 year old passed away and her and hubby number whatever chopped the body up. Not usually a true crime guy but I listened to this and wish I hadn't.

Although a good soul, WAN is also a dark soul who goes out of his way to submerge himself AND US into utter sadness, madness, and despair.

Good, having assuaged my morbid curiosity, I can now sleep peacefully, relatively speaking.

I believe DEAD AS DMITRI is a serious musical outfit, sir.
They are dedicated to their craft and not just an easy way to anger an identity thief.
I do not think they would associate with this George character you write of.

Right now I’m in the back yard listening to the neighbors have a spirited conversation with family who is apparently visiting. Not sure where all parties are from but it sounds for the most part like a group of cats fighting.
