Richard has recently announced that he is leaving his time slot on on Zoomer Radio AM740 out of Toronto.  I wonder if he's focusing on more online content.  His Strange Planet channel is good, and Conspiracy Unlimited.  Now he's combining them.  Maybe he'll do more C2C.  I doubt it though.

Right now he's my favorite talk show host, followed by Clyde Lewis.

How many months has it been since sNoory announced his 5-year contract renewal? If it has been over 6, maybe a replacement gig is coming up for Syrett...
Eh, nevermind...

Walt is hot with anticipation. He can barely wait until tonight, when he’ll “explode” in satisfaction.

Sounds like a potentially interesting C2C show with a decent host, for a change.

Kolchak & TV Horror / Open Lines
DATE
Friday - September 16 2022
HOST
Richard Syrett
GUESTS
Kendall Phillips, Open Lines
Before Buffy the Vampire Slayer or The X-Files, there was Carl Kolchak, a world-weary Chicago newspaper reporter with a cheap, seersucker suit and a penchant for uncovering monsters lurking in every corner. Kolchak first appeared on American screens in the 1972 ABC television movie The Night Stalker, which was then the most-watched television movie in history. Kendall Phillips, a professor of communication and rhetorical studies at Syracuse University, joins Richard Syrett (Twitter) to discuss the way the series both reflected contemporary horror narratives and changed them, ultimately, proving influential for later TV horror shows based not only on what it did right but on the mistakes future creators would learn to avoid. Followed by Open Lines in the latter half.

I enjoyed Syrett's show last night more than I have any C2C show in the last few years. He really seemed to click with the first/sea monster guest, their banter was quite entertaining. Really liked the guest, very laid back but knowledgeable with a sense of humor.

I even enjoyed the second/dogman guest, he was a former cop who went into detail to explain how best to kill a dogman with a handgun. Was disappointed neither guest pulled in any crazy callers, although one did offer to write a song about dogman.

Syrett's first guest last night, a "MUFON certified field investigator" was the lamest UFO related guest I've ever heard on C2C.  Despite being on for two hours, he said nothing of consequence.  All he did was rephrase questions by Syrett and callers into statements as his replies.  He also misidentified a couple people he referenced.  As an investigator, I doubt he could find his own ass with both hands.

Hahaha. Is he a relative of the Franks? I briefly heard a reference to them. I wasn't paying attention, it was on for background noise.
Eh, nevermind...

Regular caller Cornelius called in last night to thank Richard for having that first guest on and "stuff"

I was interested in Atlantis decades ago. Since, it’s been a lot of hogwash.  Last night though, Syrett had on a guest who talked about how Atlantis was northwest Africa where the Sahara desert is now.  He offered some interesting arguments for it.  I looked the guest up this morning and it turns out, in typical Coast shyster form, he had taken his information from a guy on YouTube named Jimmy Corsetti.  Rather than buy the guest’s book you can watch the YouTube free.

I listened to this guy earlier today and came away having doubts about him.  He was supposed to have multiple degrees, including a PhD in engineering, three MS degrees, and an undergraduate degree in business.  For someone with a PhD in engineering, he sure filled his pitch with lots of generalities and vagueness....."It's believed"...."there are indications"....."it's generally accepted"....etc.  He also started off his pitch by saying he could prove he'd found Atlantis to some ridiculous number like 99.43 percent probably, yet he wasn't challenged on that number.  I'd love to see that calculation.

Good bumper music. Don't remember what the first guy was talking about, but he was pleasant. Now it's Atlantis...
