Title: NBA
Post by: PB on September 19, 2020, 04:38:43 PM
Tone deaf LerBon James apparently has no idea how much people hate him, how tired they are of hearing his dumb comments - from the way he left the Cavs to play in Miami, to declaring himself the GOAT (he's not even Top 5), to the kowtowing before the Communist Party of China regarding Hong Kong pro-democracy protestors, to stating ''black people are being hunted down “literally” every time they leave their homes'', to now whining about the voting for league MVP.  And plenty in between.

Maybe it's time to stop tweeting and talking to reporters about anything other than the game itself.

https://nba.nbcsports.com/2020/09/19/lakers-lebron-james-pissed-about-nba-mvp-voting/ (https://nba.nbcsports.com/2020/09/19/lakers-lebron-james-pissed-about-nba-mvp-voting/)

He recently said he didn't want people to put pressure on his son.  The one he named LeBron James Jr.

Will his son be referred to as King Jr.  Or is he a prince?  LeBron is an idiot.  These guys better be careful once the season is over and they leave the bubble.  They'll be hoards of people hunting them down.   ::)

The Nets gave away their future to get James Harden, the most unwatchable player in the league - bounce, bounce, bounce, jump into the defender while launching a shot from Mars, go to the line, watch as your team goes back on defense, get the ball back, repeat.

Who wouldn't want to play with James, or watch that all night every night.

So now the Nets have Harden, Kyrie, and KD, but no one to play defense.

Kyrie finally rejoins the team from his... sabbatical?... in their first game together they score 38 (KD), 37 (Kyrie), and 21... and lose 147-135.  To Cleveland.  LOL.

The NBA is such a joke.  Yet another sport that is nearly unwatchable.  I loved it in the late 70's to the early 90's though.  Now I just take a glance every once in a while.
Anyway, these guys are babies that just want to play with there buddies.   I don't see how the Nets can maintain chemistry because those three guys are ball hogs.  One of them will get disgruntled soon enough.  I'm sure the coach will be to blame.  ::)

Some soccer player suggested LerBon shut up and dribble, and Bonnie responded that" I would never shut up about things that are wrong", and that he has ''an educated mind''.

Never mind that he said cops are actively hunting black people, that he attacked an NBA GM for supporting freedom in Hong Hong in the face of Chinese police and military violent suppression, intimidated the rest of the NBA into not speaking out, and has had no response to questions about the Chinese concentration camps for the Uighur people.

So much for ''not shutting up about things that are wrong''.  Only when it affects his shoe deals I suppose.

Never mind causing police to be attacked and nearly killed shortly after he made the ''hunting black people'' comments.

The interesting item here is his claim to have ''an educated mind''.  WTF?  What a clunky, odd sounding way of making the point that he's not some typical low information indoctrinated twit.

Did anybody else follow the whole Rachel Nichols debacle ? I will try to give a quick rundown on what happened

White female ESPN host (Nichols) was suddenly removed from hosting duties in the NBA finals last year and replaced with back up black woman (Maria Taylor) and was demoted to sideline reporter

During the NBA playoffs this week a private recording of Nichols talking to someone about the odd move. Nichols: So they said to me 'Hey instead of hosting the NBA Finals, how about you do sideline reporter job for the NBA Finals?' [pause] 'Cause guess what that would clear the way for?.... For Maria to do the hosting full time.

So I have declined. I don't know what their next move is, but they are feeling pressure because of...all of that, and I'm trying to figure out, like how to just...you know, my thing is, I wish Maria Taylor all the success in the world — she covers football, she covers basketball. If you need to give her more things to do because you are feeling pressure about your crappy longtime record on diversity — which, by the way, I know personally from the female side of it — like, go for it. Just find it somewhere else. You are not going to find it from me or taking my thing away.”

When the recording came out... ESPN/ABC then removed her from this years sideline reporting to give that sport to another black woman (Malika Andrews)... BTW the woman who leaked the audio is a digital video producer (Kayla Johnson) who got a 2 week suspension when it was found out.

-----------------------------

So black and woke twitter are all trashing on Rachel. This might surprise some but I am totally on Rachel side here, she literally did nothing wrong, Nichols is 100% right this was all done to pander to BLM of last year and of course it's totally unfair and total BS for her to get demoted during the finals. If the switch happened in the off-season, okay that can be more legit, but in a panic move right before playoffs, that's wrong and anybody else would react the same.

That producer should be fired, to leak a co-worker conversation, that is just dirty. As for Maria Taylor she already left ESPN this month to work for NBC

A sorry incident.  I don’t know Rachel’s work, but I do know Maria’s.  She’s very good and could well have deserved the promotion based solely on that.  She’s now been hired by NBC to an even bigger job.

I have yet to hear a female broadcaster that truly knows the game, or is interesting to listen to.  Not that there are that may good male announcer/broadcasters either.  I could say more but I'm probably already in trouble.  I'm curious about who got bumped when Rach originally got the job.

Besides, shouldn't this job now go to a transgender identifying as female?  As long as ESPN is focused on Woke virtue signaling equity, instead of fairness.  Rachel knew who she was working for.

In all this, I mostly have sympathy for myself.  Every person who gets cable is paying $5 a month to these pukes, whether we watch their station or not.

An African-American can't interpret the Constitution by looking to the intent of the Framers - all Black Americans must be or at least support the Far Left - or be attacked?  What did he call it during his confirmation hearing when it was Joe Biden, Ted Kennedy, Patrick Leahy, and their segregationist friends - a ''high tech lynching''.  Good to see nothing has changed.

I'm sure people just love to be placed in categories and have others demand they think a certain way due to their race.  Geez.

Unfortunate that you chose to edit this post.  The original was better.  In fact, I think you were on to something with it.

Have you seen any porn lately that features two white people?  The TATTOOS.  Gezzus, some of them have more paint than an unattended box car in Oakland.  And the hair styling isn't much better.

What you originally wrote was that "most" black people you know have to conform to the dictates of the "real" world (read: white supremacy) so they don't sport tattoos or unconventional hair styling.  It's the same with porn.  If your pecker is as long as your forearm, or you can take seven cocks in your ass and pussy at the same time, you can go with "my body, my choice."  And you don't even threaten anyone's health with it!

That's why I watch porn with Asian chicks in it.

The Framers deliberately kicked the can down the road on the question of slavery.  You are not a stupid person, though you give it the old college try, so I figure that you're doing this two-step for a reason.  So let's hear it.

Thomas, for those of you who aren't as deeply informed as PB, was the descendant of slaves.  He was born and raised in Georgia.

Thomas, for those of you who aren't as deeply informed as PB, was the descendant of slaves.  He was born and raised in Georgia.

And here I thought you'd be going for the 3/5ths clause.

They weren't trying to have a document that was a be all end all.  They knew insisting on the elimination of slavery would mean they wouldn't get an agreement.  As they say, politics is the art of the possible.

Look, the Articles of Confederation weren't working anymore.  They needed a new agreement among the 13 independent former colonies for a lot of reasons, one being excessive taxation for goods being shipped through some states on their way to other states.  At a time when they were surrounded by often hostile forces - the British, the French, and the Spanish were all in the area, among others, and often at war, pirates, the Indians to the west, they needed a collective security arrangement.  It expanded from there - they wanted to present to these neighbors and the rest of the world a united front, and did so with the creation of a federal government that was given these powers.

Have you ever even read the document?  It mostly sets up the House, Senate, presidency, and Supreme Court, and their duties, and some other relevant issues regarding the formation and continuation of a government.  The Bill of Rights - for all of us - came later.  Slavery wasn't an issue because it wasn't going to get resolved then, they'd already taken on an almost overwhelming amount of issues in order to regulate trade, resolve disputes, etc, and secure the new nation states.

So yes, they kicked the can down the road.  Just like every other piece of legislation that doesn't address everything on every issue under the sun.

Clarence Thomas thinks it's a brilliant governing document, and until someone can produce something better, thinks we should stick with it.  Regardless of it's flaws.

But you're saying he's black, so he isn't entitled to think that?

If you have any more questions, can you take them to the Politics section?
Title: Re: NBA

That was entertaining to read.  I'm not even being sarcastic.

Now, let's get right to the pain:

They weren't trying to have a document that was a be all end all.  They knew insisting on the elimination of slavery would mean they wouldn't get an agreement.  As they say, politics is the art of the possible.

No argument with this.  Creating a document that provided for its own amendment was a brilliant feature.  Washington even complimented that in his farewell address.

So yes, they kicked the can down the road.  Just like every other piece of legislation that doesn't address everything on every issue under the sun.

A pleasant historical journey, which takes us back to my point: the intent of the Framers was that black people could be held as property, i.e. slavery.  Some did this actively; the others (as you point out) passively to achieve a compromise.  Be that as it may, the "intent" of the Framers was that black people could be held as property in states where slavery was lawful.

Clarence Thomas thinks it's a brilliant governing document, and until someone can produce something better, thinks we should stick with it.  Regardless of it's flaws.

But you're saying he's black, so he isn't entitled to think that?

Well, no.  That's you discarding my original point, and putting words in my mouth.  It's a very disagreeable habit.

I'm squarely in the camp of those who believe that this whole "intent of the Framers" quest is kind of stupid.  Especially so when it is brought up to a black person, because their "intent" that slavery was permissible, for whatever reason, was indecent by the standards of our times.  That means that everything else that they "intended" is subject to revision; the only exception that springs to mind is that the document be elastic enough to endure.

Now, if Thomas wants to go down that forsaken path of "the intent of the Framers," I have no objection.  There's a place in society for those who hold moronic principles, as you of all people should appreciate.  There's also a place for black men to sport tats and unconventional hairstyles.  Deal with it, Chumley.

Fun FactTM: Gouverneur Morris, a Framer if there ever was one, died from an infection of internal injuries caused when he jammed a piece of whale bone up his wang.  He INTENDED to clear a blockage in his urinary tract.

Morris was an outspoken opponent of slavery and liked to watch porn with Asian chicks in it.

Golden State had three players up for substantial extensions, and due to the tax for being over the salary cap they pretty much said they could keep only two of them.

A week after Draymond Green decked Jordan Poole at practice, the W's signed Poole and Andrew Wiggins to extensions, leaving Draymond the odd man out.

When he wasn't suspended for the attack, people were scratching their heads wondering why.  Well, unless there is a major change, it's because his punishment is he won't be on the team making 10s of millions after his current contract is up.

As his ghetto-rat mother tweeted awhile back about some other stupid shit he was involved in, ''we gone''.

Apparently ratings are once again sinking.  Meanwhile Mark Cuban is selling his Mavericks. He's made his money, has observed the decline, and now he's cashing out while the cashing is still worth it.  He knows the market has peaked, but the boot-licking propagandists don't cover this.

Supposedly he sold a majority portion of the team, but retained control over basketball operations, in order to have the cash to pay the salary cap ''tax'' when going after better players under the new agreement.

IF you are going to lose, lose big and fall down and get a top draft pick. The worst fate is either just missing the playoffs or being consistent first round knockouts and being stuck in purgatory of picking somewhere in the 15th spot for years. But even saying that with almost all college players leaving after a year even getting a high draft pick isn't as guaranteed as it once was because they all leave so early and you can't really scout them for four years like years gone by.

More than 200 points in the all star game.  Why not just extend warmups. Let teams select the ends of the court, then give each team member a ball and let them all shoot for a given period of time. They can shoot from wherever they want and as much as they want.  No need to even pretend to play defense.

It is to the point where the sports leagues shouldn't even bother to play the game any more. No one cares.  Just name the guys to the squad as an honor and leave it at that. Maybe replace it with an Old Timers game? See if a 70 year old Larry Bird still has game or watch Dan Marino's elderly quick release. Might be fun.

The Allstar game of most sports used to really anger me with the lack of effort, but recently I came to the realization that not everything is directed to me. As a sports fan I like effort and passion which is not at any ASG, but maybe this game isn't for the general sports fan but the casual kid who just wants to see Lebron and Steph do trick plays and wacky buckets. I am not a fan but again I just shrug my shoulders and think maybe another demo is into this

Not sure what would work. World vs USA might work, that's been talked about. My own personal idea would be something like younger guys vs older guys, make the cut off somewhere around 28-30, you might have some old man pride vs young guys wanting to show up the old guard.

In my former days of being a sports fan, I ignored the all-star games,

Why In the hell is the wnba trying to push Caitlin Clark as attractive? Are they trying to lose their dyke looks? She looks just like a guy bandmate of mine except his hair was better.

No thank you!

Quote
I'm breaking down the NBA gambling scandal that just broke - Terry Rozier, Chauncey Billups, and 34 others arrested in a massive FBI operation targeting four of the five New York families. I ran 12 bookmakers for 30 years, so I know exactly how this works. Athletes are easy prey - they get in deep, owe money, then we own them. Rozier allegedly faked an injury to help inside bets. Billups was a "face card" luring victims into rigged poker games with X-ray tables and card counting devices. I've been warning the NBA, NCAA, and 300+ universities about this for decades. This won't stop - gambling is too lucrative and the mob is too smart. Here's the real story behind Operation Zen Diagram and Operation Nothing But Net from someone who lived it. --- Michael Franzese
