In the 1990's we were at one of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 conventions in Minneapolis and Russell Johnson who played the Professor on Gilligan's Island was one of the discussion panel members (the MST3K crew riffed two of his movies, This Island Earth and The Space Children).

One of his comments was that one question he was often asked is why, being the smart professor, didn't he build a boat to get everyone off the island? His response was: "If you were stranded on a desert island with Mary Ann and Ginger, and your only male competition was Mr. Howell, the Skipper, and Gilligan, would you have wanted to leave?"

my hair color is brownish turning grey, thanks to my fathers german heritage. my mother was full ginger (100% irish) with brown hair as well.
