I hope I always remember that night. You could never get a ticket to a Blackhawks game. My mother worked for a couple of mob lawyers as a legal secretary. One day they gave her tickets in the Mezzanine level so she could take me. I was 11 or 12. Those days a man could not get in the mezzanine level without a suit and tie. A woman had to be in a dress. She made me dress up. I can still picture her standing away from me while I positioned myself for autographs at the loading dock area to the old Chicago Stadium. She must have been pretty cold in her knee length skirt and high heels with her fake mink stole and pearls. Half of the players were smoking cigarettes as they came outside.
@GravitySucks what a great night for your mother and you. You were both dressed up to see smoking hockey players.
There was a time, you could go to the stadium and wait for the game to start. After the 1st period, at the “Will Call” window, they would sell some tickets to the game at a discount.
