I deliver in Columbus, Ohio tomorrow and I have a day layover. I've got around $2,000 to spend and I'm thinking about grabbing a gaming laptop. I wonder where the best place to go would be - a franchise store is preferable.
I really like the look of MSi but I'm not that technically inclined.
I think I might post this on Ask Bart as well.

Definitely buy it at a franchise where you can take it back if need be to get a replacement or return it. Remember though, once the store return windows's gone, you'll have to rely on the MFG warranty to fix it, and that'll require you to ship it to them. So if you notice something wrong or not just right about it soon, take it back while you can. Even the best manufacturer has units that are just lemons and you'll have nothing but trouble.
You've got enough cash to get a good one. MSI's are good from what I've heard/read but I've never owned one so personally don't know. Bart has good advice so I'd take heed to what he tells you. Without a doubt get it at a place where you can bring it back if need be. With that in mind just make sure you're getting the components for what you'll be using it for.
The main thing is to get for what you want to use it for (now and future). Especially a laptop. You can't usually swap out the graphics card for a better one if you decide later you want to run the latest game at high resolution. Do a lot of research on all the components. Compare them, etc. Take the time to do that without rushing it and you'll be happier in the future.
