Conquest of Camelot was good, too. Graphics were a little subpar compared to the others you mention, but a great story.

That sounded familiar and I had to look it up.  This is one of the way too many games I bought, but never played.  I recognized the box artwork as one I had but couldn't remember the game play.  I looked up images of that and knew I had it but never played it.  I had way too many games unopened that I never got around to playing.

I'm not too reliant on graphics, I found the "crappy" graphics games to be the most imaginative.

So how was playing it like?

Nuff said.

I've only made it through that game once.  My girlfriend at the time was mad because her character died right away of dysentery.  She claimed I did it on purpose so I could re-marry.

Lol, I never even seen this game.  Was this Freeware or Shareware distributed through the BBS's at the time?  Actually looks fun.

What did you think of it?  I only played 1, and got that for free.  It was fun but kind of forgettable to me for some reason.

Well, it was a groundbreaking FPS and really showed what the xbox could do. I remember the first time that I played it - all of the different colors were overwhelming! No lag. Great story.
The downfall was that it took sooo many bullets to kill ...anything - and that gets tiresome.
I was more drawn to the Rainbow Six series.
Oh yeah, and there was a game for the xbox called MechWarrior that I absolutely loved!

I deliver in Columbus, Ohio tomorrow and I have a day layover. I've got around $2,000 to spend and I'm thinking about grabbing a gaming laptop. I wonder where the best place to go would be - a franchise store is preferable.
I really like the look of MSi but I'm not that technically inclined.
I think I might post this on Ask Bart as well.

I've got this one waiting in my Steam library but my current laptop just isn't powerful enough to play it without heavy lag and unenjoyably low graphic settings.

Maybe it was the bullet sponge thing. I really don't remember it too much except that I did finish it.  I played it on the PC.

MechWarrior is awesome.  I played 1 through 4.  Those were fun and the upgrading of Mechs was sort of what some RPG's are today.  And you could "chain" your weapons was pretty cool too.  I loaded up and played 4 around a year ago and was curious of what was new out there.
Rainbow Six is a great series.  That was an addicting game.  "Just one more, maybe if I do it this way" kinda thing.

Definitely buy it at a franchise where you can take it back if need be to get a replacement or return it.  Remember though, once the store return windows's gone, you'll have to rely on the MFG warranty to fix it, and that'll require you to ship it to them.  So if you notice something wrong or not just right about it soon, take it back while you can.  Even the best manufacturer has units that are just lemons and you'll have nothing but trouble.

You've got enough cash to get a good one.  MSI's are good from what I've heard/read but I've never owned one so personally don't know.  Bart has good advice so I'd take heed to what he tells you.  Without a doubt get it at a place where you can bring it back if need be. With that in mind just make sure you're getting the components for what you'll be using it for.

The main thing is to get for what you want to use it for (now and future).  Especially a laptop.  You can't usually swap out the graphics card for a better one if you decide later you want to run the latest game at high resolution.  Do a lot of research on all the components.  Compare them, etc.  Take the time to do that without rushing it and you'll be happier in the future.

Wow, a new Descent... Awesome.  I had the first one a long time ago.  It was pretty groundbreaking for the time.  Love it, but it was the only game I remember not being able to play much of, it gave me a headache after around 15 minutes.  I think the reason for that is I wasn't very good at the controls so I was spinning, twisting and turning constantly.
