I used to play Uru too. I even read the three books with the backstory lore. Really good stories! They were supposed to make a movie on the first book a long time ago. It seemed to get lost in production. Too bad! I really wanted to see them portray Uru on the big screen. Exile and Revelation games were my favorites. I've been wanting to try their new game, Obduction, but I hear there are lots of glitches. I'll wait it out and see if it improves.

I read some good reviews about Obduction.  I usually wait out new games, they get the bugs ironed out and if I wait a few years I can get it on a real good sale.  I don't need to play the games when they just come out. I have no problem waiting a few years.  Especially since I still have too many that I haven't even played yet.

All this talk of Myst is making me want to load it up now.  I think I'll start with the first.  I don't think I'll be up for nights on end like I was the first time I played it though.  I never looked up hints for any of the games, took any fun out of them.

I am a fan of Backgammon. I used to have an awesome vintage mini leather fold up one with marble pieces but I don't know where it went. I now have a travel sized one that was made in china. It is bullshit though plus it is in a box somewhere packed away. All my favorite online places to play Backgammon are long gone. I don't like the ones at Pogo or the Big Brother blue and white shite site.

I used to have a collection of vintage boardgames but lost them after divorce. I have started to rebuild some but I don't know if I want to collect them for real. I collect vintage instruments, records, 8-tracks, plus handheld/tabletop arcades from the 70s and 80s and I really don't have the space for another collection. Plus I don't really have time for playing much of anything the past couple of years. Even my guitars all sit in the cases standing like soldiers.

I was also a big fan of Games Magazine. It was an interactive mix of puzzle games, I think it was monthly  then became bi-monthly before becoming scarce or ceasing to exist at at. For about a decade The Playboy Press published it. After they dumped it the magazine disappeared.

I forgot I like UNO. I used to play for money with friends (a penny a point). Disappointing playing that online on my phone though, just a soulless and miserable experience if you ask me.

I have a couple of copies of the Kreskin ESP board game. A bunch of other weird stuff. I have an AMC boardgame by TSR. Some other odd boardgames too. Thinking of buying a yacht to live on so I don't know if I am gonna continue collecting too much more bulky stuff.

I will post some pics later if I can dig up something odd/weird or uncommon. But right now I have to go to work. I got transfered to graveyard at another location for being mean to people. Giving people a tasklist of what to do and then writing them up when they fuck the dog is not being mean. I smash cell phones like a bitch teacher and jaws drop. Why do jaws drop? Don't bring that shit to work. I don't have time for games at this point in life, I wish I did. I really wish I was that guy.

Tetris.
My favorite version is a clean simple one made by Crystal Office.

For board games, chess. In fact, I will not consider someone for a long term relationship unless they can beat me at least once in a while.

Backgammon's a lot of fun.   There was a time of a few years where that's the most game we played but strangely after that I don't remember playing it that much.  After a few friends and family slowly moved apart it slowed down and stopped with those that remained close by.

Uno was another big one along with Rummikub later on.  That was fun too.  I had the same opinion as you did that it's not the same when you play the computerized versions of it.  It's still fun but missing something after you've played it with people being in the same room.

I had to look up some of those board games.  Those sound pretty cool.  We didn't have that big a variety when we were growing up.  Pretty much Life, Monopoly,  Mousetrap (if you could find the pieces), checkers and chess.  I didn't know so many more existed until I was grown.

Pics would be nice if you get a chance.   What other board games did you have that were uncommon, ya know the ones like the Kreskin one that are unique and different than most of the ones people would have in their living room closet?

Ah Tetris.  Such an innocent and simple looking game.  I'll play just a quick round.  Three days later you're dragging yourself into the shower and making yourself get eat something.

Lol.  Good way to find someone you can be on par with.  Although if you're Chess Master good,  it would make finding someone a little more difficult.   It's still better than my test of "Heads or Tails" to go long term.

I always wait awhile for the bargains myself. Lord knows I have enough to keep me occupied. I also hate cheats because what's the point of a puzzle game if you don't solve it yourself. That damn monkey puzzle in Revelation took me week of frustration, but when it finally worked, I felt like I'd won the lottery!

I love the Sims games because I get to build homes and neighborhoods. It also lets you play God and who doesn't want that power! 😜

The Nancy Drew games remind me of Myst, but the puzzles are actually more contextually logical to the game storyline. Beautiful scenery and you get that virtual vacation vibe.

Ya know, I have the complete Sims 1 and complete Sims 2 series, but have yet to play them.  I tried them for a few minutes a while back and that was it.
I think I got both whole sets for around $5 at a Thrift Shop.

Are the Nancy Drew ones like the Sherlock Holmes ones where you have to solve the mysteries?  Those are cool.

I enjoy games that take you away into their world.

Isn't that feeling great!

While I'm thinking about it, I was going through my Myst games and noticed that I never played "realMyst".  I sort of remember loading it up just to see what it was like but never played it through.  If I remember right, it's the first Myst redone in First Person Perspective, so you get to walk like you're there, like a First Person Shooter.  I may play that through.  I have a feeling I'll be too nostalgic and want the point and click like the original, but you never know.

Did you ever start playing Uru beside just exploring or talking to people there?

I loved Sims 2. I'll still play it on occasion. It was huge leap in advancement from the first game. The first one I keep for nostalgic purposes only. You got a great deal on those!
