Unfortunately the WAPE building was torn down about 15-20 years ago. The original owner designed the transmitter with the pool while a student at the University of Florida. It had some other unique ideas that I’ve forgotten now. But his instructors at UF told him it would never work. He proved them wrong.

I’ve heard stories from some of the nighttime DJs that they’d be working, hear a splash in the pool, turn and see nude high school and college kids diving in.

Maybe we need a Big Ape Aaaaahhhhheeeeeeeeaaaaahhh thread.

And for that matter, a thread about the station the TV show WKRP in Cincinnati was modeled after - All American Tiger A Go-Go, WQXI, Quxie in Dixie.

Maybe we could convince Karen to sponsor a CuckshackCam™️ that would be on the front of Art’s Airyn’s house and aimed at the cuckshack. There could be a live video feed on the KNYE website.

Kind of like Early Warning Radar for Airyn and the kids.

I LIKE it!  I wonder if Bart would consider the project for one of his charity drives here at EllGab™️ ?

I read somewhere that John Kay has bonified eye problems and thus the sunglasses.  I got to see them at a county fair years ago.  They were really, really good.

He is legally blind 20/200 and color blind and light sensitive. He's got a pretty amazing story about escaping East Prussia in 1945 'Renegade' Thats cool you got to see them when you did, their touring schedule is pretty light these days. I was too young to have seen them in their heydey, but was kind of bottle fed on their albums. Skullduggery in the crib! I'm impressed when any station plays more than Born to Be Wild and Magic Carpet Ride. KNYE has also played Move Over.

Funny, I'm quite the opposite. Having grown up in the desert southwest I love seeing the actual geography of a place, dirt, rocks, mountains. Living here in the sierras of norcal my friends often hear me go on about how this place might be pretty were it not for all the effin trees screwing up the view.

Oh the memories I never saw any of the nudettes at the pool but there were rumors  The Big Ape Aaaaahhhhheeeeeeeeaaaaahhh signature yell after station IDs was classic. Besides the Greaseman (in the later years), I remember Hoyle Dempsey, Chris Trane, Robbie Rose, and Alan Moore. Besides the Big Ape yell, one thing I remember is when Alan Moore would do the news segments, he would always sign off as "This ...(long pause)... is Alan Moore."

Their antenna farm is still in Baldwin FL the last I heard.

Just heard the best news of the entire week on the ABC News report.....Necco Wafer production has been saved by an Ohio company! The ones I had been getting at Walgreens have been getting a bit crumbly and in rather short supply....

Trivia: They have been around since 1847!

For some reason I have been unable to get another favorite Cherry Mash! I am worried some of these candies may be like endangered species.

It’s used by Talk station and sNoory affiliate WOKV which is now both 690AM and 104.5FM, the station that first put together Lex and Terry.

WOKV is 24 hour talk radio now. El Rushbo, Hannity, Clark Howard, Noory, and a few others. They have a four hour morning news program during the week that begins when Noory ends in the morning at 5am. When we had the hurricanes last year, they were in continuous news coverage mode for about a week. I remember the days when they had Bruce Williams on. Really enjoyed his shows until he retired from radio.
